The author of the source is also the author of a blog that's been running since 2006, where he also leaked Xbox related announcements. Granted, I'd never heard of him until his new blog was sent to me via my roommate, but that's why it's under "rumor" and not news.
Exactly. Xbox is the underdog this year, and when you back a behemoth like Microsoft into a corner, that can only mean one thing: drastic measures. MS is bringing the big guns to E3. They have to, and they know it. No way they're botching this opportunity.

As for me, I'm excited simply because I'm a sci-fi buff and love almost everything Sci-fi. That, and it's Bungie. Outside of those two things, I'm rather "meh," so I get where you're coming from.
343 Only does Halo (it's in there NAME). That's what that studio was built to make. Everyone there is behind that vision and is a fan of the franchise. Nobody is saying that the artists can't work on something else, but as far as the studio is concerned, it's a Halo studio.
