Well, technically their lowest selling number was 16 million or so. Even still, just one blunder in 25 years and all their other consoles over 80 million definitely makes it the most consistently strong performing brand.
Ken Levine. Thief, System Shock, Bioshock, Tribes...all great. The work he has done has been largely magnificent, but he just kind of fell through the cracks.
I'd put Dragon Quest XI as number 1. Octopath at number 2. Valkyria Chronicles 4 is excellent too though. Haven't played Ni No Kuni 2.

Yes, I absolutely believe this is a biased community. Not every individual here is biased, no, but the majority are. Gangsta's comment isn't trollish, and is positive in nature. Not overtly, no..the effect is subtle. It might seem like just a button, but when it comes to an online community like this an agree button reinforces behavior and a disagree button discourages the behavior. It's a basic reward system, though it's a bit more implicit. Sony consoles have a tendency to sell well pretty far outside of their lifetime. I think the PS2 was at 110 million when the PS3 launched, but continued to sell almost 50 million more in the years to come. So it's possible.
Personally, I think it'll probably cap out at 125 mil, making it the second best selling home console and third best selling video game console overall.

It's a handheld console, which makes it a console. If you are talking about home consoles designate it as so. The generic term console can be attributed to a variety of products.
