@SmokinAces It's about 20% more powerful (12 vs 10 teraflops). FYI... A PS4 pro only has 4 total, so 2 teraflops is a lot. and boasts a higher consistent speeds as well vs PS5s boost mode.

For Playstation fans that want the tiles look of Xbox and Windows 10?

Streaming services are great for demos true. Also great for playing on a tablet or touchscreen from the couch while my wife watches some show I'm not interested in (as opposed to me going into the gameroom by myself). Why would anyone chose stadia over xcloud though? I feel like any money spent on stadia will be a huge waste when Google folds up shop and abandons it like they have so many other projects.

annnnnd now I will be playing a lot of Slay the Spire on the couch while my wife watches shows I'm not interested in.

I can't wait (lthough I will become I always wait for the first patch for any large open world game). Odyssey was my second favorite game of this generation behind the Witcher, and this seems like Odyssey where they just continue to involve and improve those systems.

I see a lot of "unsustainable" related comments to GamePass. Xbox had its most profitable quarter in Q4 this year with almost 2 billion and increased GamePass by 50% in 6 months. Seems sustainable.

They don't care if you buy the console. They want you to play Xbox on PC, Android, or the Xbox. Yes, you can join and quit, same as with Netflix, there is a reason investors LOVE subscription models, because most people don't so that. If you're someone that plays on casually from time to time, sure. Anyone that plays a lot, always new games out there and the Bethesda acquisition means even more.

You say it's not sustainable based on what? Your financial and business acumen being that much more than Satya's and the rest of executivea at MS?

They went from 10 to 15 million GamePass subscribers in like 6 months. That's 150-200+ million dollars per month. The Xbox division reported record revenue in Q3, so it's seems sustainable.

Not true, even games that are on PC are on the Xbox platform. I'm playing Crusader Kings 3 right now... Through XBOX GamePass. That's the platform.

Umm, that data can't be used to project like that, but sure. I always laugh that people don't realize Xbox is a platform. You can play Xbox on PC, Android, or an Xbox. MS doesn't care if you buy a series S or X, as long as you play on one of their platforms and have GamePass.

1961d ago 1 agree16 disagreeView comment

Ahh, no. They'll be exclusive to drive people toward GamePass. If only 1 million people sign up for GamePass because of the Bethesda titles, that's 10-15 million extra revenue per month. Safe to say they'll have more than that sign up for GamePass to play Fallout 5, Elder Scrolls, Doom, Dishonored, Prey, Wasteland, Starfield, Fable, Gears, Halo, Forza, Flight Simulator, Gears Tactics, ... etc.

Agree and when people say "they didn't keep Minecraft away." That's a games as a service. It needs a MASSIVE player base that stick around for decades to make its money. So it's possible any new TES Online or Fallout 76 style games would come to Sony. Single player IPs like Elder Scrolls and Fallout won't.

1970d ago 8 agree10 disagreeView comment

I think people are really reading into that comment too much. "Case by case" likely means "is it a games as a service game that needs a massive player base to hang around for a decade like TES Online, Minecraft, or Fallout 76?" If yes, goes everywhere. If it's not, exclusive to the Xbox platform. Doesn't make sense to put single player IPs on the competition. MS could care less about 10 million more Elder Scrolls sales on PS. If those games being exclusive to the X...

While I do agree both will continue to buy some studios, those will probably not be the massive purchases like this (unless WB goes back on the market and MS buy them). Bethesda is huge, but many of their amazing games aren't huge hits for their smaller studios. Thus purchase will help increase exposure to those great games and provides stability for them as well. I also don't think Sony is dumb enough to try and get in an arms race buying studios. MS has enough cash reserves to buy S...

Disagree. I've heard that all over too, but it makes no sense. You don't pay that much to not gain exclusives. The logic I've heard of "they can sell more copies if they put on PS5 too, doesn't make sense either. OK... That's true for every game. Halo, Gears, Forza, Fable, Avowed, etc all coming to PS5 too?

The case by case basis is the same thing Phil said after the put Ori on Switch. Demakes years later and platformers may end up on Nintendo. MMO...

Games are not held back by being capable with lesser powered hardware. Developers design for the high end and then downgrade to make it work on lesser powered systems. Otherwise PCs would be horrible gaming systems, always being held back by the older graphics cards.

This is old news, yes, a multiplatform engine will run on Xbox Series X. Also, it's significantly more powerful than the PS5, so yes, it would run the demo. When did a slightly faster SSD become the most important thing in graphical fidelity?

Xbox division makes billions of dollars for MS PER QUARTER, they don't need Windows money to subsidise GamePass.
