It's launching on GamePass. Sales isn't the metric they care about. I'm willing to bet more people play this than the first game, which was an incredible gaming experience.
Switch is a handheld system that you can plug into your TV if you want, that's why neither Sony or MS view it as true competition. It's a different experience, so I wouldn't expect anything MS or Sony do to impact switch much.
I believe it's also a financial desion. It didn't sell enough. It was essentially a break-even game and at the high cost of development for huge games, the risk for Sony is too high on that to push a sequel.
There actually many different ways developers get paid and the terms are negoted for every title. One is what you listed. They can get paid upfront. Higher % if DLC revenue...
Developers have already said they love the model, which is great to hear its as good for them as it is MS.
I played this on Series X as soon as it hit GamePass and had none of those frame rate or stuttering issues you discussed.
I thought most of the puzzles were well thought out and not nearly as simple as "key is just to your R.
Yep, great first party game. Loved it. Also... They have released X/S versions of many first party games, so I'm not sure what the point is. They haven't released titles exclusive to the X/S yet but they've stated the goal of supporting Xbox One as long as possible
@ApocalypseShadow last I checked, MLB the Show is also on current Gen. How is that any different than MS releasing their games on current and next gen.
@VersusDMC
Thats my point. In regards to Microsoft, those numbers are guesses, but people take them like fact. Not saying MS outsold Sony, just saying we don't know Xbox sales numbers. We do know Xbox revenue and subscribers, which are going up and up
Why is it disturbing? It wasn't a hostile takeover.
..
Given that, as a software company, MS doesn't report sales of hardware, including Xbox, you don't know it hasn't spiked sales. We DO know that GamePass subscribers have grown incredibly fast over the last couple years. Revenue has continued to climb too.
The difference is games that have a Series X version, you get the series X version on GamePass. There are PS5 versions of these games, and they're only putting the PS4 version on PSNow.
Are you saying buggy game releases didn't happen until? As someone that grew up playing Atari, Intellivision, and then Nintendo games, I'd have to strongly disagree with you.
Well, we already know GamePass is on android/iOS and will be native to TVs soon via an app. Not really any other platform other than PS and Nintendo. Phil already said it wouldn't come to them because MS wouldn't be allowed the access needed to deliver on the user experience.
Nintendo would be possible if they decided to allow Xbox Network to backend their online services. Be a huge and needed upgrade for Nintendo but that's a still and insane Longshot.
Games have always released buggy or broken. Especially massive open world games. The difference is they can be patched now.
I've never paid to shorten the game with resources, I had a friend with 3 kids under the age of 5. He happily spent the $5-$10 so he could experience the game in a shorter time. I don't see a problem with companies offering that option for people that want it. Especially for games with 100+ hrs of content.
I love the Ubisoft games and don't think they are bloated. There is a ton of content, yes, but most isn't required to do. I have friends that do a of it. I have some that do a bunch of it don't. Options are great. They massive, detailed open worlds with tons to do, that's not a bad thing. Just do the stuff you want.
Touch works great for slay the spire or anything turn based or non-twitchy. They're also great for doing inventory management and things like that in games but I can't play Halo or most games with them. I'm old though, I'm sure some teens would destroy me at some shooters from their phone with touch controls.

I'm maybe 5 hours into Rising and loving it! Such a great game, love the comedy and the way it's mechanics don't get in the way. (upgrading a sword upgrades all swords and reakining everything like in AC Odyssey for instance). I think it does most things better than BOTW, wish it had a wider variety and harder puzzles but that's my only grip so far.
LOL. Sony is not even close to becoming a trillion dollar company and not headed in the right direction to do it either. Not saying Playstation sucks, it's the bright division in the company. They're currently $900 billion dollar away, it's taken them 70year to get to $100 billion. To put it in perspective, Microsoft has over $134 billion in cash.
