It's my job to look and financal reports so I can tell you for sure that revenue in the Xbox Division doesn't come from other parts of the company. They aren't hiding Azure revenue in there. Hardware revenue also grew by almost 50%. Did they report in how many units, no, because people like me don't care. The revenue from hardware sales grew 50%... that's what investors care about.

Xbox had their best fiscal quarter ever and made over 2 billion dollars in those 3 months....

I wish more people here understood how businesses work. MICROSOFT doesn't report on hardware sales, as a part of MS, Xbox doesn't either. Investors don't care about how many Xboxs are sold. Investors care about subscribers, engagment, and revenue... which is what they report on.

I don't know why this is hard for people to understand. MICROSOFT doesn't report on hardware sales. They report on the only numbers investors care about, subscription numbers, engagement numbers, and revenue. Xbox is a part of Microsoft, so that's what they report too. It has nothing to do with Sony or the fan boy wars.

I love how Sony likes to tell people what they want or need. No excuse for not having 1440p available at launch since, as he said, no technical limitation. There are a lot of games that play xbox/pc on monitors with 1440p resolution, in fact, most people don't have a 4k TV yet. I do, does not affect me, but typical Sony bs.

@aussieguy they don't force you to have GamePass. It's an option, and an Insanely good deal. For the cost of 2 new games per year you get access to that huge library and new games. "inventing new ways to charge customers." They are a business. They've also been INCREDIBLY consumer friendly to the point that not they're being criticised for blocking current gen users out of the latest releases and they also allow all the old accessories work. Also led the charge on sm...

What's not to like about where they're headed? GamePass is an insane value, they're now the largest publisher of video games (most studios), are the home of WRPGs, and all the Bethesda titles are now under their umbrella.

If you want PS5 cool, just curious about why you don't like where MS is headed.

Value is tricky. Xbox over PC comes down to technical ability and budget. You can spend more on a graphics card than the series x, the series x is plug and play, and works on your largest screen in your living room. PC is better for sure, value is normally on the boxes. Either way, MS is 100% happy if you play on PC, I think that's something most people forget. Windows PC with Xbox GamePass is just as good to them as Xbox with GamePass. Both different ways to play on the Xbox Platform

Agree that Tflops isn't a perfect metric but it is a fairly good one. Xbox also has a custom ssd (currently loading faster in current games than PS) and better effective i/O throughput (link below). It's the more powerful machine, no one should really be debating that.

Both is the right answer but if that doesn't fit your budget/playtime available. Depends what you like.

If you're God of War, Horizon 0 Dawn, Last of us fan... PS. (I know they have more exclusives than that)

If your Halo, Gears, Forza, and Bethesda titles, then Xbox. (same as PS, I know they have more exclusives than that)

Budget a concern? Xbox with GamePass.

Play a lot of 3rd party games? Xbox since it'...

Right. MS wasn't ready for launch but PS5 is a compelling buy? What Exclusives do they have next week? A remake and more pretty versions of games available in PS4. Sounds similar to Xbox. The reason to get these systems at launch is if you care about playing the best versions of games. Xbox will be the best place to play 3rd party titles like Assassins Creed and Cyberpunk while also having great next gen version of 1sr party games. Personally I can't wait to play Gears Tactics too and...

So, when was the last time you disconnected your system from the internet to play? If you have limited or unstable internet, I'm assume those people would've purchased disc's... Which would've worked without the always online aspect, cause the disc verified ownership.

Because people are addicted to being offended and outraged about things. Rage against the headline before you even understand what it is or bother to read the article.

For people on a budget, or without 4k TVs, this is an amazing product and it WON'T hold back next gen, even a little understanding about how games were made and people would know why.

Storage doesn't matter. Xbox let's you store and play off external. You can find 1TB ssds for under $100. Old games, just play then from there. New games, transfer to the internal when you want the even faster loads

Always online was such a visionary and great feature that people raged against in ignorance and killed. How awesome would it have been to sell your digital rights to a game to someone else in a used digital games store? People heard always online, didn't realize that was an occasional check to see you have the rights to a game. Kinda similar to how games check-in to see if you're updated now anyways.

The didn't "release" Minecraft on everything after they purchased it. They didn't remove it from competing platforms, which would've pissed off millions of players. Big difference. I also think it's fairly likely GaaS games like Minecraft and Fallout 76 will continue to be on litterally everything. I think there is a chance Starfield comes to Playstation, just depends how far along in development it is. If it's 80-90% done, probably. If it's 2 years away, pro...

Wow, Lotta ignorance so maybe Rea Don and I can help some of you learn how companies work...

1) MS didn't stop reporting Xbox sales because of Sony. They're almost a 2 trillion dollar company that has enough cash reserves to buy Sony without sell stock or taking a loan. Microsoft as a whole doesn't report hardware sales. Why? Because investors don't care and they're a software company. Investors love subscriptions (GamePass, Windows, Office, Azure...) an...

Again, I've had to post this a lot that isn't how game development works. PS4 Pro isn't held back by PS4 existing. Series X won't be held back by the Seris S. It just outputs games at 1440p so it's less powerful. Most gamers don't have 4k. PC players spend more on the latest graphics card than we will the newest PS/Xbox. Those players games aren't held back by everyone with lower spec PCs. Developers build high end, then reduce resolution, draw distances. Effects, ...

That's not how game design works. Ultra high-end PCs aren't held back by all the lower spec graphics cards and different processor speeds. Xbox S won't hold the Xbox X
