Hit their sales goals? Funny, they didn't rlease sales figures yet and rumors suggest that their goals were reduced to 750,000. Sony didn't release numbers for PS3 when it wasn't meeting expectations either, just like MS isn't concerned with them now. Difference here is that unlike a home console, PSVR appears to be going the same direction as any other device made under the PS brand.
Think about the excitement built up around Eye Toy, PS2 HDD, Move, PSP,...
Can you elaborate on the times you recall MS using the word premium?
I can't recall any examples myself, but if you're going to say the Elite controller, it's better and cheaper than a Scuf (so it's not top dollar), and from a cost vs. performance standpoint there's no better controller for the money. Also, the Elite seems to sell just fine at $150 so I doubt that a $400 to $500 console will have any problems selling either.
Christopher, my initial statement was simply pointing out the immediate error in Corroios' comment in a sarcastic way, which I even stated as such in the post. But I then gave a reason for my opinion, an anology to compare it to, and an example of MS' competitor doing exactly what he jabbed MS for. No personal attacks at that point, just a difference of opinion, and yet I get called names and harrassed by everyone else in return.
These people started attacking me i...
I know, it's cool, but thanks for clarifying. I'd prefer a reboot to Perfect Dark personally but I don't know if MS is even considering the franchise ATM. I'm just happy to hear Mech Assault is being teased. MS has so many good IP from the OG Xbox days!
...and their sad faces aren't even appearing on milk cartons... 😭
Oh, man, have you been giving money to the Loch Ness monster again?
It's set in the Halo universe, but it's not really Halo though being that it's an RTS. It's like calling Mario Party a Mario game. I'm making assumptions when I say that I think Phil was referring to Halo 6 not coming this year. I mean, I'm pretty sure he knew about Halo Wars 2 when he made the remark.
That aside, Phil said there would be no Gears or Halo but he never mentioned Forza in that statement. I'm therefore assuming Forza 7 and Crack...
How could you forget the Power Glove? Freddy used it to kill that kid in Nightmare on Elm Street 3! Now you're playing with Power!!!
Leoms, Sony also did it with the PS3 when they were behind. Logic indeed.
Edit: I already acknowledged that PS4 outsold XB1, medman. I said XB1 is selling better than they ever have before. Gimme a break.
Why are we against VR right now? I am because, ATM, VR is unexplored territory for devs and the games are mostly experiments and gimmicks. VR needs to mature, which is why the headline says it'll be another 5-10 years before it takes off. It's not even about the developers intent as much as it is about the immature technology. Great as it is, the current tech is barely passable and has loads of room for improvement. Just look at the second gen VR debuted at CES.
Like the PSVR numbers? I see your point. /sarcasm
Even if MS isn't ahead of 360 right now, you may recall the strong sales XB1 had during the last half of 2016. That was in spite of the fact that the Pro released and MS announced Scorpio for those who'd prefer to wait for it. Sounds like success to me, just not the most success.
I'll put it this way, you don't have to be Floyd Maywether to be considered a successful boxer.

This is the 3rd console that is trying to be something unique without really having an identity. Was the Wii a success? Absolutely (With die hards and old people)! The Wii U was confusing to many people who thought it was portable, so they just made the Switch fit with that customer perception. Ninty is too late to the tablet party, and playing a low powered tablet on a TV doesn't really scream success either.
Ninty screwed the N64 with cartridges. They even screwed...
Dropping sales estimates from 2.5 million to 750,000 units, not revealing sales numbers, closing down the studio behind RIGS, no killer app, hardly any games with release dates in 2017, and having problems with the tracking. Not exactly screaming success.
Kinect had more potential, based on initial sales figures, and look how that turned out. Now look back at how Sony historically treats anything that isn't a home console... every add on failed to get continued suppor...
Ironically, they skipped 3 by making it into a 3 part episode... then made only two of the 3 episodes. What's wrong with the number 3, Mr. Newell?
Is that a sign that a sequel ending in 3 will be announced? Half Life, Left 4 Dead, or Portal could really use a 3 at the ends of their titles. Hell, it's been so long for Half Life even a reboot would be welcome at this point!
MS has Crackdown 3, and we don't know for sure but Mech Assault just got hinted at. Plus, MS has been quiet about the "announced" unannounced titles from last E3. Could MA be one of them? Here's a real stretch: 343 could be developing a new IP?
But yeah, speculation aside, I'm curious about all the old IP too.
Okay, things just got REALLY interesting!!!
Dasteru, I think there is a sweet spot though in this case. Sony launched at $500-600 last gen, and struggled for the first few years until they cost the same as 360. MS also struggled horribly after the launch of the XB1 at $500 partly because the value/performance wasn't there for most consumers. Neo Geo never took off. Neither did 3DO. Price vs. performance/value. There definitely is a sweet spot because if their pricing doesn't fit within the pricing of the industry, it app...
