$199 is the sweet spot.

Some moderators are Sony-biased. Just to give you an example:

Someone posted two very similar threads: one in the Xbox 360 forum, the other in the PS3 forum.

For the Xbox 360 forum: "What PS3 exclusives do you wish are also on Xbox 360?" And the people in that forum actually had a healthy discussion and started posting their wish lists.

Then, about a day later, the same person posted in the PS3 forum: "What Xbox 360 exclusives do y...

You can go there and see for yourself.

Well, is the graphic in the PS3 version $200+ better?

I doubt you even have a Xbox 360.

PS3 dev kit and licensing are much more expensive than Xbox 360 and Wii.

It also takes longer to develop a same game on PS3, and longer development time = more expensive development.

Sony needs to lower the price for its PS3 dev kit and licensing.

Simply one of the best video game developers in existence -- the best in Microsoft's portfolio of Xbox-exclusive developers.

You guys should go over to Bioware official forums, and see all the Sony fanboys begging Bioware to make a game for PS3 and getting angry at Bioware for haven't yet made a game for Sony.

However, I have never heard or read that PS3 (or 360) has any advantage in colors. This comparison has a completely different results from IGN and GameSpot.

BTW, just so you know, IMO, GameTrailer does have a bias for PS3. If you go over to its forums, you will see that the place is run by Sony fanboys, and many moderators show in their profiles that they are PS3 fans and dislike Microsoft. And a couple more extreme GameTrailer moderators would ban people for just saying &qu...

Toshiba does. Microsoft does not have shares in Toshiba. Why should Microsoft help Toshiba?

which most people overlook.

that's killing Blockbuster.

I haven't rented anything from Blockbuster ever since I started renting from Netflix, Gamefly and then other online stores a few years ago.

If people have to compared Resistance to a THREE-YEAR-OLD game, then it doesn't look too good for Resistance.

Now only people who actually have 360 and Forza 2 can post. We'll find out soon enough how real is the problem. If the problem is real, then REGISTERED owners of Forza 2 will post again. The problem is not going to just go away.

If the problem is not real, then of course the legions of the trolls who've been submitting fake reports would be mightily pissed... but since they don't have a life, they will move on and find another way to fake something else.

Puhlease. Rob Yescombe is still a Hollywood reject writing for a shooter video game. He needs to realize that he's not making an art film that's up for an Oscar nomination.

and it's very distasteful for him to resort to bashing a succesful competition to promote his own product, which is not even out yet. It's classless to say the least. Maybe he should take the high road, just shut up and let people judge his product for themselves when it's finally out.

the move is purely political because Blu-ray adopts Java, and Sun (Java's backer) is Microsoft's enemy. (along with Sony, that is.) It's very unlikely (if not impossible) that Microsoft will help Sony's case by offering blu-ray with 360.

BTW, Netflix has come out and say that Blu-ray and HD-DVD are about the same in rental. Netflix is not on Blu-ray's side yet.

and not everyone wants a gaming console or PS3.

There are people who just want to buy standalone hi-def players, and HD-DVD players are cheaper.

Even if Sony fanboys still want to insist that the PS3 version looks better... does it look $200+ better??

That's really the point.

6796d ago 4 agree0 disagreeView comment

most people are pretty happy with DVDs. they don't have the incentive to switch, especially when blu-ray discs and HD-DVDs are still so much more expensive than regular DVDs. They do add up.

Those Chinese-manufactured cheap HD-DVD players will be available at Wal-mart.

Wal-mart will still be selling Blu-ray players as well, but the Blu-ray players won't be at, like, $199 during this "holiday shopping season" (that's what a bunch of Chinese websites say -- but when exactly?)

I think $199 will be the "sweet spot" for the a lot, a lot, a lot of people to buy and adopt HD-DVDs over Blu-ray. Sony is betting its entire Blu-ray future o...

that's what I read in the Chinese news media. They will be around $199.

Just when you thought Blockbuster had ended the HD format war by annoucing its support for Sony's Blu-ray, now the war has just taken a drastic turn.... now that Chinese have joined the war, on HD-DVD's side.

All the Sony fanboys must be cursing Chinese right now. This is getting just too delicious.
