I like single player games and I like multiplayer games. I don't think Microsoft are really delivering on either front at the moment.
I don't personally care for Nintendo games, but you won't see me say anything like "I wish Nintendo would just leave gaming alone". I don't even get mad at the people that like playing those. It literally doesn't upset me at all.
If you spend a little extra on the receiver You won't need to choose between side channels and height channels. Atmos works on pretty much any number of channels, you just need a receiver that supports them.
I have a Marantz SR6011 and I'm running 7.1.2 at the moment. I actually have 2 more Atmos speakers being delivered today, so I'll be testing out 7.1.4 this evening :)
Don't forget retail getting their cut (and their seconds, as single player games are ripe for trade-in). I'm sure the shining examples like Horizon and Zelda turn a profit but you can see why most of the big publishers have their eyes on GaaS.
I'll keep supporting single player games, and hopefully the likes of Sony will keep up the appetite to deliver them.
I think she's still having nightmares about Ryse.
Mmm they should definitely leave gaming alone ASAP because you don't like multiplayer games. I don't want to imagine the devastating consequences to the environment if ever the World stopped revolving round you.
Overwatch? Really? Of all the games to choose as a graphical showcase, you're going with Overwatch?
UHD Blu-ray for Xbox One S did exactly what it says on the tin. The Xbox One S plays UHD Blu-rays.
It doesn't play them "against the ps4 slim", but that's obviously an abstract fanboy way of assessing the functionality.
^^True. Unfortunately I don't think UHD Blu-ray adoption will ever pick up, as the vast majority of people are quite content with streaming.
Still, the Xbox One X is made for people that do care about audiovisual fidelity, so you could say the UHD player is a huge plus in the context of a "4k debate".
There is a massive gulf in quality between 4k streaming services, and a UHD Blu-ray. Disc is the way to watch if you can afford it.
The Xbox includes a couple of object based virtual surround options, you should check them out.
-Windows Sonic is free, and is the tool that most Xbox and PC games will be mastered in
-Dolby Atmos for Headphones has a 30 day trial, and costs something like $15 to keep.
Give them both a try, and decide for yourself if Dolby's version is worth the license fee. These are both supported on current Xbox Ones and PCs already, no need to wait for the One X. ...
Yeah but they get HDR, so it'll look better than your relatively limited colour range and contrast.
They've already confirmed that the textures are higher resolution.
Better filtering does arguably make just as much difference though, depending on where those textures are displayed.
Same textures, now properly filtered. Basically an extreme case example of what the built-in 16xAF will do for games.
Assuming this is just Halo 3 with the baseline Xbox One X enhancements and no extra refinement, this is an impressive demo. Though it does also serve as a "look what PC gamers have been doing with every multiplatform game for the last decade" air to it.
Any headphones are Atmos headphones.
I mean I wonder what Sony are doing with the engine. I'm sure they own the engine, and every line of code that went into it.
True, those games are highly realistic. Why just the other day I was commuting to work along the walls of an old ruined temple, and as I hauled myself across a precarious gap the stone ledge that took a hold of partially crumbled. Happens all the time.
Sometimes it is nice to kick back and enjoy something a bit more light-hearted. Shooting people also begins to weigh on your conscience after a while, so a bit of Nintendo time eases the soul.
I wonder if they're doing anything with the engine? I remember Evo saying it was made for more than just racing games, with it's dynamic time of day, lighting, weather, sky, water, and dynamic everything else. Seems a shame to let it go to waste, as it is clearly an impressive engine.
Evo made "dynamic" cool before Sony plastered it all over the PS4 Pro marketing material lol.
Hopefully it'll be I'm VR in no time :)
Same here, but it's ok as I don't really want the game or the hardware :)
Permaban certainly seems excessive. Why not just block gameplay until said overlay is disabled? They've caught a lot of innocent people out unawares, and considering those people paid for the game it isn't acceptable to deny them access to it without a full refund.
