Bluepoint have a sterling reputation (that SotC will only enhance further), and they have said before that they have a queue of projects lined up. Near-constant demand to remake and remaster games for various publishers. They can basically afford to pick and choose projects that they want to work on.

The fact that they are working on passion projects probably contributes to the quality of their work, so in that sense it would be a shame if they were bought out by Sony or an...

Microsoft are not particularly obsessed by exclusives. In fact they've repeatedly stated that they want to make games available on as many devices as possible.

I can see Microsoft getting obsessed with getting content on Game Pass though, as per Netflix.

I think Gabe has softened his stance on Microsoft in recent years. I don't think he'd sell Valve to them by any stretch, but I think they have a decent commercial relationship now. Something of a necessity really since SteamOS tanked.

Ah right. Yeah it is a little surprising that neither Sony or Microsoft particularly feature their own games there. You'd think it'd be the cheapest way for them to run it.

Personally I am not a fan of PS+ or Gold. I'd like to see both services stamped out, with the benefits rolled into a genuinely optional subscription. Even if the end result was the same, the multiplayer paywall has always felt dirty to me.

It matters for now. Streaming will get better in the coming years, until the disparity is small enough that most people will opt for the most convenient option.

Just like films. UHD Blu-ray is still the best way to enjoy them, but most people are content to stream them or watch their blu-ray collection.

I'd be very happy if Sony allowed local installs as an optional way to play on PS Now. I'd subscribe right now, even if it just applied to the relatively small number of PS4 games on the service.

Fingers crossed.

Edit: Just realised what thread I posted this in. Apologies for the broken record syndrome :-/

Single player games can be profitable. They can also flop massively. Microsoft specialise in the latter :)

They bet quite big on Ryse and Quantum Break, so you can understand their trepidation. If they feel game pass mitigates some of the risk then perhaps they'll have another crack at it.

^^Did that guy just blame Microsoft for the fact that Hellblade is only available digitally?

So many people here wanting to pay extra for games just to protect the retail industry.

Breaking news: Working in retail is shit. Let it die. Give some money to charity or something if you need to feed your inner White Knight.

Microsoft are losing because Obsure_Observer likes single player games? Blimey. I had no idea he was so significant.

Fair enough on collecting things, I know you aren't the only one.

EA were asked about why they put their games in the vault, and they said that basically the games industry is terrible at making money off of games beyond the launch windows. Movies, TV, and music keep going through TV/radio and such for ages, but games basically just stop making money.

By putting their catalogue in the vault, their older games make them a bit of money through the subsc...

PS Now? I think the quality kills it for a lot of people (myself included). Compressed 720p and stereo sound just isn't adequate for games mastered with much higher audiovisual fidelity.

If Sony can improve on PS Now it could be great, but at the moment it isn't really viable for keen gamers.

I'd be very pleased if Sony strengthen PS Now, even if they don't match the "day 1" aspect. Patience is a virtue and a money saver :)

I'm the kind of "outspoken Xbox fan" that hardly touched an Xbox One up until the X came out. The kind that also owns a PS4 Pro, and really enjoys many of Sony's games.

I'd snap up a Sony Game Pass immediately. I'm buying God of War, Detroit, Spiderman, and possibly Days Gone anyway, so it'd be great value for me before even considering 3rd party games or anything else I'd otherwise not have bought.

3 cheers for Sony! Supporting retailers by keeping digital prices way too high.

It is funny, because control pads are precisely the kind of thing they should be looking to stock if they want to survive. They could even let people try them, to get one over the likes of Amazon.

They're probably doomed regardless, but stupidity won't help their cause.
