I hate to think there will be nothing that comes after this. How about a dedicated 3D handheld that attaches to the glasses/goggles that you wear while playing it? No room for that in a future gaming world? Total walk around virtual reality will not be part of the next gen of smart phones and their $0.99 apps.
Just ordered Digital Devil Saga II for PS2. I play PS2 games because the RPGs are infinitely better than most of the ones for the current gen systems. If you aren't a fan of FPS, especially online, the games for PS2 are the way to go.
Yeah, it's wider, thicker adn taller. Bigger in all dimensions.
I have to agree with the article. No more death penalty. No more need to group. People getting to level cap in weeks. bah... waah - why can I get all the best stuff playing solo? not fair! my play-style!!!! No more depending of finding healer and tank - waah don't want to wait to find group with the right balance... It's the new American way - everybody must succeed equally so we lower the difficulty and reward mediocrity so nobody feels bad.
Back in the day I bought lots of games. At one point I think I had 26 pre-orders at Gamestop. Then I started playing FFXI online. It stopped me from buying any other games for many, many months. I remember thinking that I was saving a ton of money even though I paid for 2 subscriptions. I wonder if the popularity of the Online FPS games something to do with this.
My son now plays online games exclusively. I keep offering to buy him new and interesting releases but he li...
I wants one, I do. I would have paid to get one early if there was an RPG at launch ORif the bundle had 32G Memory card and it didn't have to be 3G. As it is, the first RPG isn't out till April so I can wait till then unless a really nice bundle shows up before then.
I understand and agree. Xenoblade and Last Story go to Europe but not N.A. I would have been happy with just English (US or UK) sub-titles. Well, at least Xenoblade will be coming soon.
Yaay, and they were copied by...? Sony!!!
I wanted to love this game but I didn't get very far into it before I encountered the tight-rope walking mechanics and those little burr things that stuck to you and then blew up if you didn't jiggle them off. After a couple of those I was so irritated with balancing when crossing a rope that I found it wasn't worth playing the rest of the game. Too bad. It was a pretty world.
I recall reading several different sources that said the bulk of game development now goes to developing the graphics. One interview with a SqEnix guy had him saying that the new games will never be as "big" as even the ps1 games because of the cost of developing the graphics. And I know that people complain if the graphics are re-used in multiple areas.
How did you interpret what I wrote to mean that I didn't know there was a market for action rpgs? I just think that once in a while developers would throw a bone to those of us that enjoy some mental exercise rather than mash da buttons.
As soon as a saw another "action type" battle system I lost hope. Don't want another stupid action game. Are they never going to learn that there is a market for turn based complexity?
For me, the same battle system means I won't bother with the game. I didn't like it the first time I tried it and I won't be spending $60 to see if it's better this time. Fortunately, Kingdoms of Amalur and Darkness II will hold me over until Tales of Abyss and Tales of Graces come out. And then Disguaea 3 for the Vita should show up. And - oh ^^ Xenoblade! almost forgot that. It would be nice to have a new Final Fantasy game, but I don't really consider XIII to be one...
Nintendo's big price cut on the too expensive 3DS will leave smart consumers wary of buying the Vita. If people (not the gaming junkies that hang here) thought the 3DS was too expensive they will believe the same of the Vita.
My prediction - the Vita will have a great first few days of sales as all the committed feed there tech hunger, followed by a big drop in sales, just like in Japan.
I guess they just aren't selling as many 3G versions as they though they would. I saw some recent sales figures for Japan where the Psp outsold the Vita for the week I saw. I cancelled my Amazon pre-order knowing that Sony would need to do something if they wanted to have a great launch month. I'll wait a little longer. I wants it but after the price drop on the 3DS I'm not going to let my emotions make me buy it on day one.
My first game for the my Vita will be Disgaea 3. No hurry for the hardware now since the game won't be available at launch and I don't find any of the other offerings appealing.
Canceled my Amazon pre-order a couple of days ago. I thought I would wait for a better offer, a price drop or failing those, the release of Disgaea 3. I only pre-order consoles because in the past they were hard to get for a while after release day. I don't think that will happen with the Vita.
I bought the pc version of Skyrim. HDMI cable from pc to big flat screen tv and Razer Onza controller plugged in. I sit on the couch with my controller in hand and play just like it was a console - except I get better graphics and can still do mods and oh - FOV 85 ftw.
This is great. Another online co-op action shooter with zombies. Another game I don't need to buy because I've played something just like it already.
I swear I used to buy 3 or 4 games a month and they were all different. Now there are only action/shooters and sometimes platformers. I don't need to buy any of them. No matter what genre it is, it turns out to be mostly action/shooter. Saves me lot's of $ but gaming is becoming boring.
I loved this game on the PSP so much that I bought it again in digital format as the first game I loaded onto my Vita. It is full of shiny goodness.
