In the future I think it is likely that there will either be several e'retailers who sell games but DO NOT make or publish games themselves OR (more likely) each publisher will have they're own seperate store.
The problem with Steam is that they shove their own games (i.e. Valve's games) down customers throats. From a rival publishers perspective, this is bad for business as they are helping prop up a rival in multiple ways. The first being that Valve takes a cut ...
It's also the speed and usability of the mouse more than the actually keyboard that makes RTS games for example much easier to play on a PC. You will certainly do most of your work with the mouse in most modern RTS's.
From the teaser it looked exactly the same as portal, just with multiple dimensions instead of portals. Not saying that's a bad thing, just an observation.
To be honest it couldnt have been much worse. I've never had so much trouble customising load outs or editing emblems etc ever.
Im not talking about a game running in Frostbite 2, im talking about a game being made in Frostbite 2, during development, Im sure they said something along the lines of because of the way it handles lighting etc it generates too much info for a PC to handle. I am fully aware that a completed game using Frostbite 2 can run on PC, I am not living under a mountain sized rock.
@Jdub For me a troll is someone who comes in to an article on something they care nothing about to voice this fact.
Did they not at one point say that the engine generated too much info for a home PC to handle during the creation of a scene?
But I thought it was impossible for a home PC to run Frostbite 2 DICE?
Still, snipers have a kill range of 100s of metres to kilometers
How would you know?
This laptop really is the biggest piece of crap ever made for $2800. Obviously, any body who buys a laptop for the purpose of gaming needs their head checked, but a $2800 with a res of 1024x600? I haven't played at that resolution since 2000, when I was 7!
Like I said, anybody who buys a laptop for gaming is a downright noob. To buy a laptop with comparable performance (not spec, performance - laptop parts perform considerably worse than desktop pargs with the same spec)...
iPhone 4 runs at 960x640. The majority of console games run at 1280x720. That is 614,400 pixels vs 921,600, in other words not that different when you consider my PC runs everything at 4,096,000 pixels...
I understand that making the screen bigger will make low res textures more obvious, but screen size has nothing to do with performance, that would be resolution which is we found is not much different between phones and consoles.
Don't see what buttons has to do with anything in terms of graphics, but regardless, this clearly does not even match Far Cry really...
Hope this gets 'Xperia Play Optimised', would be a surprise if it didn't. Dead Space mobile is a fantastic experience on Xperia Play, I challenge anybody to play that and say it can't compete with consoles.
Um no there is no such system in place. The vast majority of games that get banned are resubmitted with slight edits and then pass.
@badz149 - Sure, CoD has been more or less the same since Modern Warfare, but it has changed in several ways. For example, there is in MW2 and Black Ops a greater emphasis on things like equipment, perks, killstreaks etc, where as CoD 4 was more focused on man on man gun fights.
Yes but for western developers it is generally working, japanese developers are loosing market share all the time...
So why do you hate 'the new COD' then? From all reports they are taking MW3 back to its roots.
So in other words, the japanese game industry remains as stale and as reliant on existing properties as ever...
Yeah I loved that map as well, Bad Company 1 had some really great maps for Gold Rush. Medal of Honor's urban maps were fantastic as well.
Maldos texture pack was really not very good. Sure the textures were mostly very high res but they didnt have tesellation, nor did they actually look realistic.
Its much like a 256x256 texture pack I downloaded for minecraft. The textures are relatively speaking sharp, but they do not look realistic either because of lighting, colouration not fitting the surrounding textures or a lack of imperfections due to wear and tear.
