What GPU do you have?
There is no difference between high textures and ultra textures. However if you load Ultra Textures then more textures are loaded on to your GPU.
This results in less pop ins, however if your GPU has less VRAM then it will start stuttering. So for people below 3GB of VRAM its recommended to keep high settings, this wont lower the graphics it just may cause popins. If you GPU has the VRAM then by all means keep ultra.
Retail sales in the western part of the world are floundering. When i say retail i mean consumer purchase power in general not to do with gaming. I still think we are in deep recession despite what the media tells us of a recovery.
Hence price wars when the consumer is strapped for cash is normal and a trend that will probably continue.
@Mrmagoo
Doesnt work that way. I didnt buy those GPUs just for Witcher 3.
I previously had 2x Titan Z, so quad sli. I bought those from Ebay at 1200usd each. I sold them for pretty much the same price and bought 2x Titan X's.
Next time i upgrade ill again sell the Titan X's, Titans hold on to their value very well over time. When i sell them maybe in 2 years ill probably end up getting 700-800usd back for each of them. Then again upgr...
@Sean
I have a Titan X sli dont think ill be needing upgrades :P
Though yea ill enjoy the game at launch(that is if i do decide to purchase it), modding playing around with files just is part and parcel of PC gaming. Did it with Skyrim will do with this game too.
How else do you think people still play Skyrim on the PC while its been dead on console years ago. Same goes for Witcher people still plat it till this day.
Reservations i have for this comparison, they dont mention AA method used on PC version. PC with right settings can go alot higher. Within this comparison i see jags on both the versions, PC version can easily overcome this with a higher setting.
Differences i noticed though minor:
PC version has better Ambient Occlusion.
PC version has more Foliage Visibility.
Nvidia Hairworks advantage is subjective i liked both the effects.
My preorder remains cancelled until i see game reviews on the PC build.
Well current gen consoles are loaded with APUs running at 1.6ghz its not even a real desktop CPU.
An I5 running at 4.5ghz will blow the socks of any of those APUs, add a GTX 980 to the mix and you have a very decent rig on hand.
Since games are designed with consoles in mind too, PCs can last a very long time. I would think that I5 would be good for another 5 years atleast lol.
PS4 version looks very good. However it cant compete with PC version with DSR.
You dont need a beastly PC to compete with console version. Also consoles come with hidden costs. Dont discount those.
@Nekroo91
I have a 1440p monitor and have Titan X in Sli, i could easily play the game with those graphics, this is just DSR tech.
Few years from now pretty much anyone with a mid range GPUs on PC should be able to do the same.
if you dont believe me, check the original GTX titan. When it released it was the ...
Please stop being immature, PC gaming has always worked that way. To leave room for future improvement any time you upgrade.
You remember a game called Farcry 1, Crysis, Quake 2, Half life 2 or maybe unreal series?
No GPU could max out any of those game at release time. For the majority of people it was playing those games at medium settings. Later on in the years as they upgraded they automatically got upgrades to their games. Think of it like free HD remake...
First its youtube comparison, never take those seriously.
Second i would come back to this few months later after the modders are done with it.
Lastly the PC version cost me 33usd. Anyone crying oh you need super high end PC, add up the hidden expenses on console in the long run its about even.
What you get with the PC version is a game that improves over time with mods, and more powerful hardware over the years (aka 1440p or 4k down the line...
Lol add in mods, there will be no comparison in the long run.
What if i want to play beyond 1080p. Say 1440p or 4k?
Looks like a lot of options, heres hoping modders do to W3 what they did with Skyrim.
I paid about 33usd on the PC.
To make a PC may cost 200-300usd more than a console, however in the long run the cheaper games and free online and perma BC more than make up for it.
Sure it may look better, but having to pay for the game again... and even then what happens when the next xbox rolls our you are back to sqaure one.
I still have the original game on the PC, at this point if i wanted i could easily run it at 6880 x 2880 (DSR for 3440 * 1440). I think thats an amazing option on the PC platform.
To be fair they should run the original PC version at 4k, since the game is so old any mid range GPU of today can easily run it in 4k. That would be a good comparison.
TBH i enjoy MK9 more than MKX. I really miss the tag battles, wonder why they had to remove those from MK X.
I still have MK 9 installed on my HTPC, so whenever friends are over we play MK 9 instead of MK X.
As per Nvidia's Guide there is no difference between Ultra and High Textures. The only difference is at Ultra settings more textures are loaded onto the GPUs VRAM which helps reduce pop in.
Hence for anyone having a GPU with less than 3GB VRAM it is recommended to use high settings, remember your quality wont drop just that you might be pop ins.
