@everyone:
Im not saying uncharted won't be amazing. Im freakin' stoked for it. But as someone who works at a studio that placed 4 trailers in e3 this year and quite a few last year, I know a little something about how they get made. whether it be CG, in engine or whatever - because we do all of the above. people should just temper their realistic expectations just a hair.
just remember that "in engine" doesn't mean gameplay or realtime. you can crank up all the textures, rez, aliasing and everything else to max and it will look amazing but will run horribly. this seems to be a big reason why people get pissed at the now infamous downgrade syndrome that games get at launch. don't get me wrong, uncharted gameplay graphics will be amazing regardless, just slightly less amazing.
Agreed, however after reading the article I think they were speaking more about functionality, as he specifically mentions the touchpad on the ps4 controlling the map and counted that as a difference
I wish this would have been available when I bought my ps4 6 months ago or whenever. The white looks amazing. Probably not as much of an obvious finger print magnet too.
damn. that looks badass.
i want to see actual gameplay. sure a maxed out engine trailer looks amazing but it can't run at realtime like that. i mean - you can crank up the POS Unity engine to 11 and get it to look good. not to say this game won't look great but i want to see it realistically as i would play it.
there x1 has not exactly done terrible. the ps4 has certainly outsold it and continues to do so, but the sales of the x1 are actually considered to be very successful in the grand scheme of things.
didn't you know thats what ndp uses for its research ;)
screw market research, comparative analysis, sales etc... just head to amazon.
i love how people can actually disagree with simple, proven facts. obviously amazon is not gamestop and people disagree.... f me. this site is hopeless.
yes the gamestop representative is lying about how many xbox ones he sells... and we know this by checking the rankings of a completely unrelated, dissimilar online store with a different business model.
yeah i was really surprised gran turismo didn't make a ps4 launch debut... then again maybe i'm not after how long it took to get out 5, and even then it felt really unfinished. you know what? i'm actually really disappointed with gran turismo in general the last couple versions. sad because it used to be my favorite.
looks pretty good. as long as they don't pull a nfs shift with it, im sure i'll enjoy it*
*would have preferred it being sim over arcade
well tell that to the fanboys who still mock the xbox to this day for having tv functionality. its just laughable how such strong polarizing opinions box people into corners.
@xHeavYx:
thats the very problem. people such as yourself are too polarized and it dilutes reality. the world doesn't work in absolutes. its perfectly acceptable to think sony had a boring show that featured some awesome games. its called looking at things subjectively. likewise, ms had some great games but i felt some of the featured indies were not super strong (ori and inside excluded).
i wouldn't say sony's show was "bad", a...
i think its fair to say it was pretty balanced. sony and ms both brought a ton of stuff to the table and beyond that its just personal preference. sony had some visual stunners and ms had some interesting and most importantly expanded, unique IP while still showing off some gorgeous gameplay. everybody wins.
i completely disagree. if anything i felt sony's presentation swayed on the side of boring. definitely some good stuff don't get me wrong, but ms had me pumped with theirs.
thats actually true. it just comes down to preference. no preference is right or wrong and no one should have to feel they need to justify their preference with marketshare stats or features. buy what makes you happy and respect those who have a differing opinion. they feel the same way about what they prefer.
.
amen. thats what i've been saying all along. being closed minded or a diehard fanboy only results in missing out on the best that the other side has to offer. e3 made me happy that i own both consoles, even if double the titles makes my wallet sad. ;)
definitely picking up sunset overdrive and the order 1886.
@JoGam:
I completely agree. I'm a huge fan. My comment wasn't meant to be discouraging, just realistic. Lots of "in engine" trailers are rendered frame by frame, and run through compositing for some "sweetening". but when they render, they use super high poly geometry, really cranked up antialiasing etc - stuff that usually has a hard time running in realtime, but it doesn't matter because you render to sequence. not to capture.
