Never been banned or know anyone who has their console bricked offline by the actual manufacturer (minus patches causing it).

But wouldn't wiping the hard drive and reinstalling the OS (keeping the console offline of course) fix the problem?

The only way I could fathom them being able to tell which console should be banned is by that system pinging the server and then the server sending data to the console.

Online is a service (it requires you to connect to a 3rd party in order to function). All 3rd party services will eventually cease but your consoles actual functionality wont. Playing games offline will always be there as long as the console is functional. That is the ownership.

It's like saying well you own you car but you aren't able to drive your car to Europe. Well that ability relies on other peoples services (maintenance, ferry's etc) it has nothing to do wi...

In Japan the only people who buy Xbox's are gun-otaku's. Sony very much caters to the mass gaming audience in Japan/Asia. So not sure how you could say they 'abandoned' Japan. Even if a PS4 never released there I don't think an Xbox One would catch on purely due to stigma.

Exactly, i think the closure of Games For Windows Live (any content you owned on that simply disappears) show's the future of any DD service. Once they disappear so does all your stuff because well you never owned it in the first place...

I do believe a Netflix like service will eventually become the norm on the systems. There will be too much competition and choice that its the only logical choice for digital only content.

Music isn't full DD and neither are books.

As long as there is a market of consumers willing to purchase the physical product the manufacturers will continue to make them. Simply because if they don't the competition will fill that void losing them money.

Yeh but that really has nothing to do with how the game plays. He was always the lead on his other actual titles that he and the team made.

And how much of it he actually wrote we dont know. He was used more as a marketing tool in order to sell the game

Just means a lot more people will be waiting for price drops.

Yeh small developers such as these would qualify (companies such as FuturLab use it also). Basically if you are making games for Playstation devices you can try and get into the Sony Pub fund.

The Pub Fund would easily cover how much they are asking in the Kickstarter :)

They should look into the Sony Pub Fund :)

Spike Chunsoft are known for making quality games, so I'm looking forward to it!

Hope it gets localised (think it will just due to sheer popularity)

Isn't Sonic tied up on the Wii U with some exclusivity deal? If you want Sonic soon, think you might be best off buying a Wii U if you haven't already of course!

As for Atlus. It can be good or bad depending on how much SEGA get involved into Atlus's affairs.

We know Atlus as a standalone were profitable under Index. So left alone they could slowly make a profit for SEGA. But i don't think that will happen. I'm expecting SEGA to focus Atlu...

Not really going to matter when Sony has tons of them. And all the things Japanese go crazy for i.e. Miku, Idolm@ster etc. Just too much going in Sony's favour in Japan.

Also lets not forget lots of the most popular 3rd party games will end up PS3 exclusive in Japan like they did this gen. Because it wasn't worth porting over and localising for 360 considering install base.

Buying games for easy platinums just takes it too far :p

Most likely exclusive within Japan where MS doesn't have any weight.

As for a western release they will probably do both consoles as it actually makes more sense there.

But this and Yakuza really piqued my interest at the conference. Hoping they both get localized :)

It's Windows 8. I've even made a nice picture to show you
https://pbs.twimg.com/media...

Looks to me like they are trying to merge everything PC/Laptops/Surface/Phones and the new XBone into a singular UI experience. So if you get used to one device you know how to navigate them all.

It's basically Windows 8

Shame they didn't include Shenmue in the list.
