140W? Shouldn't we be trying to lower the power consumption?
Thank god for the TGS.

I'm thinking i should be able to barely run it.
I just hope my laptop can run this :(
Rockstar going multi-platform with GTA4 was a good thing financially. So far it seems both games are nearly the same which means it should pay off for fans as well. While i hate EA's yearly releases, it's hard to argue with their current structure in terms of efficiency.
Simply put, it is bad parenting if your child is playing too many games. It isn't that hard to take the game console out of their room and lock it away for a while, or in the case of a computer, put the kid(s) on an account of their own and then as a parent using the admin account (with a password), restrict access to the game(s) until you see fit. Not that hard...
This about .5 too low for me. They said "Very, very little in the way of new gameplay elements" yet this is a prequel to the first game i believe so how can you really have new gameplay elements without ruining the integrity of the series/first two games?
I can no longer go to GameSpot for my reviews. Information, maybe, but definitely not reviews. This review furthers that stance. Their priorities for the game are completely lacking if one of their flaws/cons was that ...
Looks horrible. Impractical. Uncomfortable. The list goes on...and that's just from looking at it. So far my favorite concept is:

Not so. With HD-DVD out of the picture, that means everyone can now focus on Blu-ray and lower costs. The studios want to be profitable, meaning they will lower their manufacturing costs as much and quickly as possible. The new Blu-ray drive/laser is much smaller, reducing costs further and in the case of the PS3, the Cell chip is going to be 45nm soon while the RSX will be slimmed down to 65nm soon as well. Movie prices for Blu-ray are currently between $14 and $23. Averaging out at aro...
Well, my question is: where do we go from here? I mean, the graphics are already great, the budgets are already soaring past $30 million for triple A games...with this generation, i think releasing a newer, more power hungry, graphically intense console would fail. If we continue the trend, we'll finally see Pixar like graphics with the Xbox 3 or whatever it will be called. That's a bad thing, those movies cost a good chunk of money and that would mean fewer chances on new IPs...

Judging from the size, this wouldn't be comfortable in your hands AT ALL. Not to mention that screen will be scratched in no time, plus the bummbers/triggers are on the side? Nice attempt, but not practical.
I'm on a laptop with built-in graphics...all i have for now, so it's nice to know i'll likely still be able to play this.
Technically, the PS3 has sold 8,000,000+ meaning there are 8 million Blu-ray players on the market just from the PlayStation 3 alone. The HD-DVD has sold close to 300,000...so with this in mind, Blu-ray likely has 90% of the HD market with the PS3 included.
If i were consumers, I'd be pissed (to the point of a lawsuit?) come this summer because Toshiba, in no way, is warning people that their player is dying. With only a small fraction of movie support, the format will die come this summer.
I know we are supposed to be informed consumers, but imagine people who walk into the store, see 3 HD-DVD players for $99...they aren't going to have time to go home and research....
The only reason HD-DVD is coming back (very slightly) is because of the fireside sales retailers are having to liquidate their stock...give it a month or two and we'll see Blu-ray back at 75%+.
Usually forum posts aren't good sources, but in this case it's the OFFICIAL Mass Effect forums run by BioWare. Can't get much more official than that ;)
@ 3.2
MMO would be great, and i wouldn't be surprised if a MMO Mass Effect was planned or in the works. With the size of the universe, this would have a plethora of options for expansions. I honestly think it could rival WoW. In terms of Mass Effect 2, i think compromise could be to allow friends to join your missions. Basically, 3-4 player co-op. I think this would be a great idea considering computer AI is no where as good as human control.
I would have loved to of seen some new armor/weapons/etc. added with the DLC, but a 90 minute expansion is pretty good for $5. Not to mention the Mass Effect universe is just a blast to play in.
Considering Mass Effect is planned as a Trilogy (i believe), a small expansion makes sense. There's only so much (i assume) that they can add while working on the second game which takes the story further.
I wouldn't really call 2,000 anything that's newsworthy...but it's a start.
