I prefer turn based combat when dealing with multi-character based set ups. I, for one, feel more involved and connected to the characters when I am in control of every action.

It's impossible to control every aspect of a characters action in combat when you use an active based system involving a party-based structure. You normally simply focus on the main character and control their actions and let a often times lack-luster AI define side-characters action. This ...

I looked around for a bit and my information shows Sonys press conference going for 60-120 minutes in length. Microsoft will go 90 and Nintendo 60 as you said.

Do you have a source of info that confirms Sony to be only an hour long conference rather than the usual upwards of 2 hours? All I could find was the 1 to 2 hours option.

The Korean people are just a diverse group of people as any. Some are very into the gaming scene and some are not. So it's easy to conclude that some people made uninformed decisions when making their purchase. That or buying it as a gift for someone that didn't like the DRM feature. However while the Koreans are a diverse group of people when it comes to its gaming population, they as a nation and culture view video games with a bit more respect and take them a bit more seriously...

The reality of it is that the big 3 companies of Microsoft, Sony, and Nintendo still receive a majority of their profits and game sales from brick-and-mortar stores such as Amazon, Wal-Mart, and Gamestop. This is the reason why digital versions of games on these platforms are priced similar to the physical copy. If any of these companies priced the digital content substantially lower than the physical copy, then the brick- and- mortar stores would begin to refuse to sell their product becau...

I would be inclined to agree with you if the more recent Assassin's Creed games hadn't forced you into full combat situations. There are missions and situations in the Assassin's Creed franchise that force the player to combat numerous guards and never allow the player the chance to explore the situation from a stealth perspective. There are even missions that force you to get caught and force you to fight your way out of situations. Assassin's Creed ...

Not much in the way of gameplay Q&A in this article. However, if you're more interested in the story or the setting of Assassin's Creed 3 there are a few tidbits here and there you may not have heard about yet.

This article is really about promoting a stat tracking web-site. It attempts to draw in new users by saying that, in essence: “You're not hardcore unless you stat-track here.”

Personally, I don't see labels like “hardcore” and “casual” as measures of skill but rather measures of time and how both types manage their own.

The “hardcore” will schedule their time around playing the game. “Casuals” will play the game when they have the time and the...

Personally, my favor goes to the original 1998 release. Metal Gear Solid as we know it was the result of Kojima and his team's intended vision based on the restrictions of platform. It's style, it's charm, and it's X-factor are all based upon the intention and innovation of the men and women involved in its production.

MGS: Twin Snakes was (at the time) a modernized re-interpretation of the game Metal Gear Solid done by Silicon Knights and cinematic dir...

For the last 6 years, Nomura and his team have been involved in Final Fantasy XIII, XIII-2 and countless portable games.

You see, whenever Square-Enix gets on-stage and announces yet another title, Nomura and his team are inevitably pulled off of VsXIII to work on it. This is precisely the reason why VsXIII, while announced around the same time as Final Fantasy XIII, has yet to be remotely finished. Apparently, the Square-Enix HQ building consists of Nomura, his team, a...

I have a bit of different perspective.

Battlefield 3 is to EA what RAGE is to Id.

They are not an exercise in design, they are elaborate demonstrations of their respective graphics engines. They serve to show a basic understanding of what their engines can do so that they may be licensed by other developers.

Analysis and criticism of something like Battlefield 3's game design is a bit of a waist since the effort on EA's part ...

Actually, I disagree with the articles assumption.

Reason being that a bad ending is 9 times out of 10 most likely do to budget constraints and the lack of pre-production. They will focus time and money on the more robust part of the games such as graphics , mechanics and online(if there). Then they start to come to deadline and the money is disappearing so they just slap together an ending with what's left.
It's not gamers fault. It's the result...

Because giving players that pay extra money or involve themselves in limited time promotions a possible advantage over those that do not, is wrong.

It's ok for some games to be art and others to be fun.

Some movies are meant to inspire and enlighten, others are just meant to be shameless fun.

Same is true for books and music as well.

Games shouldn't be pigeon held to one method or the other when they are perfectly capable of being either.

Star Trek really doesn't lend itself well to the modern market of game design ideals. I.E It's not about shooting things and blowing things up.

Star Trek has always been about exploration, political intrigue, and really examining morality and what makes us human.

With games like Heavy Rain and more recently LA Noire showing a game doesn't need to be flooded with combat and action to be a wonderful experience, we may see a Star Trek game that...

I'll agree.

Though I do know this game is supposed to take place in the vein of the movies by Abrams, I still would like a Star Trek game more in line with what Gene Roddenberry had origanally created.

I think an experience in the style of Heavy Rain or now even L.A Noire would fit a Star Trek game very well. Rather than having one long plot, perhaps a collection of short stories much like the origanal series.

As I understand it, there was a letter that was sent out by Sony to other developers and publishers stating that the PSN store would allegedly go back up on the 24th of May.

Hope that clears some things up. ^_^

Actually, in Resistance 3 there is no segmented health system. It's 100% health pack only, I believe.

In Resistance 1 you did not receive the ability to regenerate health until after you were infected by the chimera.

In R3, you are not infected and completely human and they show that by not letting the player regenerate health.

@guigsy

True. It was rumor that stated it was a kinect game though speculation remains if it will be fully Kinect or like a few people suggested, simply have kinect additions.

E3 should confirm something about the title and it's ties to Kinect. Then players can see for themselves.
