And to be honest I kinda hope Fallout 3 is delayed for a while to give each title more breathing space, and me more playing time! ;)
Nah it's cool mate, we just disagree. :)
I just believe that developers talking, even when sh!t like "Bigger, Better and More Badass" is giving me headaches, is important and valuable as it opens up a dialogue with gamers and gives us an insight into what they're up to and how they're minds tick.
The more discussion we generate, the more avenues can be explored, the better games we'll receive, and hopefully that will eventually push games to a level where e...
Enjoy. :)
Errr they'd be PC FPS, as opposed to Goldeneye the father of console FPS... lol
And just like your failure to understand Rare's Goldeneye metaphor, you clearly fail to understand the STFU metaphor... yes it includes telling developers to "shut up" as well. :)
Ha! Just put my preorder down today. Well done Molyneux! ;)
Looks like I'll be playing those Pub Games next week to rack up the gold pre release. :P
Jeff Gertsmann and Giant Bomb weren't big fans either in their podcast. Personally I prefer PixelJunk Monsters much more. Now that's some addictive sh!t :)
You clearly missed the point of the whole game. Poor you. :(
You do realise the reason you have great console FPS titles now is largely thanks to Goldeneye? Although you didn't get his metaphor, so maybe you don't... :/
You should read my earlier post on those who use STFU as an argument. ;)
"And all it took was a Japanese game in a Japanese genre made by Japanese people to do it..."
Priceless! lol
You're right mate, there's a lot of quality titles on both PS3 and 360 that are going to keep me busy along with Spore. Unless the co-op and online is truly special this title will have to wait. :)
Most wanted for this year at the mo... Fable 2, LittleBigPlanet, Gears 2, Banjo 3, Spore, Resistance 2, Too Human, Fallout 3, Mirrors Edge, Dead Space. And that's before I invest in my JRPG tendencies! lol
This article from the other day explains him perfectly...
"The STFU mentality isn’t designed to foster debate, rather to shut it down... STFU isn’t criticism, it’s attempted intimidation. Why attempt to silence any developer when their words provide an opening for the kind of further inquiry and pointed questions that will generate more fruitful discussions?"

Read the full interview... 1/3 of the original Goldeneye team remain at Rare.
Also I'd point out that many people who made the classic NES, SNES & N64 games were not around very long by virtue of the tense relationship with Nintendo and the attitude/working conditions of the Stampers. For example many people who worked on Battletoads did not work on Donkey Kong Country, many people who worked on DK Country did not work on Goldeneye, many people who worked on Goldeneye did no...
Arrrggghhh those N4G Gremlins made me double post... :/
And Rare has a track record of producing masterpieces... so their chances are better than most. I suspect they'd also be their own worst critics and given they know what they're working on as opposed to idiots that seemingly know it all like Siligon, I'm happy to give them the benefit of doubt.
Plus if you look at their history they went through a similarly underwhelming stage with the NES before they hit it big with Donkey Kong Country on SNES (maybe Banjo this time?), and then...
We've got to wait for Victoria who are in charge of the study and thankfully pro gaming (lots of developers in Melbourne) to come back with their findings later this year.
Holy sh!t, don't know if that'll pull me in or push me out of the experience... "Next time on 24... I mean... World at War..." lol
I never played the first, but given the quality crop of titles coming out of EA at the moment (Bad Company, Burnout, Spore, Dragon Age, Mirrors Edge and Dead Space), I'm willing to give this a look.
The integration of RTS and RPG into a sandbox is very intriguing.
Fantastic score. :)
Why couldn't he just go out a legend, before pulling a Michael Jordan and adding a curious footnote to his otherwise amazing career. :(
Agreed, my brother didn't think all that much of it and he went off and played something else, but myself and my two other brothers loved it. :)
The game will sell regardless, but reviews will heap praise and hatred in equal measure, depending on which side of the fence you fall on.
