maybe he sold them back at the company
WoW has a story. Of course, WoW is also the reason I now hate the WarCraft universe I once loved, but it still has a story.
the scene was great and served it's use. It was meant to have us see Makarov as a rthless killer. In games today, it seems it's okay to be a manic launching nukes on a nation killing millions of civilians while doing it, but once you get up close and personnal, it's too much?
IW wanted us to make it more realistic. In the real world, terrorists aren't launching nukes, they're killing civilians using guns and small bombs. Just because you're not seeing the victim's faces when you ...
yeah, but if people are like me, they have Steam starting when windows does, still doesn't mean I'm using Steam during that time. While Live is active when you go on your Xbox, chances are you'll be using it when you log on (since most games these days seem to heavily rely on MP and have shorter SP, see MW2), while I mostly use my computer for school and work.
“It's like, I don't care about retail, about Marketplace, or PSN, I'm going to have Steam."
Valve has released a title on marketplace, maybe Randy should check his info. Also, what should they release on the PSN? They don't have games to put on it, they won't develop a title just for the sake of using the PSN. And since most of their catalogue is on PC, how the hell does he want them to use the marketplace or PSN more?
And what about EA, they hae their online d...
gearbox > valve? yeah whatever, that's probably why most of gearbox's projects are from ports from Valve's games. Oh, and they also made the worst Half-life title (blue shift).
the fact that you can picture that scares me. and it should probaby scare you aswell. but hey, I agree with you on the subject of them being low lifes. but really, that description you just made wasted what was until now a nice little day. I can't get that picture out of my head.
I'm pretty sure I read it sold over a million copies. That's actually pretty good.
so, you're calling the RTS niche? Games like CnC, SC and WarCraft are some of the biggest franchises in the gaming world, selling better than most games and receiving great reviews. How is RTS more niche than driving games? What about Relic's games, aren't they mainstream enough by now?
it will happen. SE has, in the last few years, re-released FF1 and FF2 with significant updates, has remade FF3 and FF4 in 3D on the DS, and are likely working on FF5 on the DS aswell (or did they already announce it?). Just wait and you'll see, every single FF game will see an updated release or a complete remake, all depending on what SE sees as the most profitable. FF6, considering it was, jsut like FF3 and FF4 a SNES game, is likely to get a 3D makeover on the DS, anything after it howeve...
first one sold over a million
no exclusive. Most (I said most, not all) third party multiplatform titles do better on the X360 due to its user base. Of course, every now and then you have exceptions, but that would be the rule of thumb. Also, when you look at activision's big sellers, you'll notice most of them are sequels to games that were released on the X360's first year (CoD and GH both saw a release on the X360 in its first year, and both saw strong sales despite also being released on other platforms like the PS2 a...
yeah, and they also make some of the worst game once in a while, which is probably why they didn't put them on this list. TLR, IU, Project Sylpheed, pc versions of FF titles, that fighting game on the PSone and the list goes on. While I'd agree that EA also has released some crap, I don'T know any Valve game that was bad.
but, isn't the XL aimed at an older audience, which could use the bigger screen?
Indy devs can choose for which platform they develop their games. Before asking yourself how can Valve ignore a 30 million people market, ask yourself how insomniac can ignore a much bigger market (360 + PC combined), as they also are independant.
Valve is, and will likely always be, a Pc developper. They make PC games with the PC architecture in mind. Porting from PC to X360 is easy, very easy actually. Porting to the PS3 however, requires more work, as shown by Bayonetta for ex...
as written in the article, consoles are usually sold at a loss, which means they have to find a way to turn it in profit, by selling accessories and receiving royalties from every game sold.
Of course, Nintendo has been making profit with every single Wii sold since day one, but that's mostly because they used older tech to make it, while both Sony and MS were losing money for every console sold when they launched. I don't know about the X360, but the Sony is still losing some ca...
You're like our Moses, we're your people.
CHAOS, either your understanding of English is subpar, or you're confusing Valve with id, as Portal was developped by the former, while the latter has mostly been busy developping sequels of its most popular franchises like Quake and Doom, aswell as developping some iPhone games...
while all your suggestions are valid, I'm just happy to see deathrow get some regocnition...years after its release and low sales, but recognition nonetheless. By far my favorite local MP game on the Xbox. Also, where's Panzer Dragoon Orta!?
It's mostly sad when you consider it's ranked higher on the list than much better add-ons like the KZ2 one. And also when you consider that it was on the disk to begin with.
