I would say it's because World War I's battlefields simply don't make great set pieces. Trench warfare was a waiting game, most soldiers equipped with bolt-action rifles and being constantly suppressed by machine gun fire. If you look at the maps during the conflict, few advances were made, and event then, they were small and, when compared to WWII, completely insignificant. In my opinion, a game set during WWI is possible, but it should stay away from the battlefields as much as ...
I think retailers who break the release dates should be punished in some way by the publishers, mostly if said retailer has done it multiple times. It's unfair competition and, I would presume, a breach of contract with the game's publisher. If a retailer isn't willing to play by the rules, said retailer probably shouldn't receive the publisher's next big game at launch, that would likely teach them a lesson (for example, had a retailer sold Red Dead Redemption early, he w...
The Xbox One's feels a bit more classic, while the PS4's reminds me of older consoles's boxes. At the end of the day, neither will be exposed in my home as they will either be put in a closet or simply recycled.
As for the boxes as marketing tools in a shop, I sure do hope people won't let a box influence their decision, as it would be pretty dumb to choose between both consoles based on their boxes...
Not the first time a game developer makes this claim, and more often than not it ends up being bots with perfect aim and cheap tricks. I'll believe it once I play the game, until then, I'll remain skeptical.
A small correction, building a PC more powerful than a mac is also likely going to cost less than buying a mac.
As for the "high end PC fascination", people like to play on PC for various reasons, for one, some games are simply a better fit on PC (games like StarCraft, League of Legends, DOTA2, World of WarCraft and the Total War series for example). Multiplatform games also look better on PC, and usually run better as well. While most games this generation were at ...
Basically, Namco decided to only develop the game on consoles with enough users, which makes sense. Both the Wii-U and the PSVita have been on the market for several months (over a year for the Vita) and neither of them has achieved great sales so far; developing for either of them is riskier than developing for the X360 or the PS3, as the install base is much lower and they don't have the momentum of the Xbox One and the PS4. It sucks as Soul Calibur 2 could have been a good addition to ...
If the game is fun and has plenty of content, I'll gladly pay 40$ for it. I don't mind multiplayer games costing up to 60$ just like I don't mind paying 60$ for a single player only game. It all depends on whether or not the game is enjoyable enough to warrant the price and the amount of content.
I'd say it's better on PC, the controls for ARPGs are better on PC from what I've played in the past, although it's a matter of preferences. The graphics are better on PC if you run the game at maximum settings, and despite the fact that Diablo 3 isn't the best looking game out there, it still looks quite well thanks to the art direction.
But really, my reason for sticking with the PC version is the community; while much smaller than when the game launched...
I don't really play racing games, I rent them every now and then but rarely buy them as it's not exactly my type of games. But one reason I could see someone buy Forza 5 over other racing games would be the gameplay itself. Forza 5, if I'm not mistaken, runs at 60 FPS, that alone can make it more enjoyable to some than any other racing game running at 30 FPS (the same applies to the CoD vs BF debate, although BF4 will be running at 60 FPS). There's also the fine tuning of the ...
I've played every CoD and every Battlefield games. I like Call of Duty about as much as I like Battlefield, but not for the same reasons. Saying people should go and play Battlefield instead of Call of Duty because it offers a different take on the modern-setting shooter is similar to saying one should stop playing Counter-Strike to go and play Rainbow Six.
Call of Duty is faster paced than Battlefield, it has smaller arena style maps and no vehicles; you might not like i...
I don't think Tales of Graces F (or the original Wii version for that matter) helped revitalize the JRPGs this generation. While it is a great game, just like Tales of Xillia, it's still a Tales games, like Tales of Vesperia, and pretty much plays like Tales of the Abyss or Tales or Symphonia. It didn't bring much new to the table. If anything, it showed, just like many of the other games I've mentioned, how the Tales series has stalled a bit in the last few years.
I love my Surface Pro, battery life is too short, it's a bit on the heavy side as well as being a bit too thick, but it's still one of my favorite laptop/tablet I've owned. Hopefully Microsoft won't pull the plug on the Surface line as I think the next version could really be the definitive Windows 8.1 device.
If the author means Sony as a whole, I never loved them, and, probably won't be loving them for the time being. Sony's recent smartphones have been good, but outdone by the competition, their TVs are good, but Samsung has been selling TVs just as good at a more competitive price, the VAIO laptops are decent, but ASUS and other companies have more powerful laptops at a lower price and their headphones are good enough, but not necessarily top of their class. Sony is overall a good corpo...
Well, if it goes on Android, the least Sony could do is put it in the Playstation Mobile category. If not, this is a wasted opportunity. I understand that tablets and smartphones are likely to play an important role in the next generation (even Microsoft seems to realize this and have created a smartglass app for Android and iOS in addition to their W8 and W8RT), but since Sony has a portable device of its own (the Vita, in addition to their line of Android phones), it doesn't make sense...
Command and Conquer died years ago when EA shut down Westwood Studios, and the fact that they re simply using the name "Command & Conquer" for what should be called Generals 2 is a shame, as to me, a game called Command and Conquer should feature Kane, the GDI and the NOD.
As for the game itself, hopefully it will be good. Let's hope this isn't Command and Conquer 4 all over again.
Why is there a comparison between the two? One is meant to be a 64 players game with vehicles in large maps (although there are smaller maps with a lower player count) while the other is a fast paced arcade shooter. The fact that they are both set in a modern setting and feature guns should not warrant such comparisons; people who like CoD will continue to do so, and people who like BF will also continue to do so. This endless debate about which game is better (when it comes to providing fun)...
Some types of games should really aim for 60FPS, most notably RTS, FPS and racers. I'm disappointed to see that The Crew won't be 60FPS, and truth be told, that's pretty much a dealbreaker for me.
Great MMOs can survive with the subscription model. If a game is good enough, provides enough end game content, quality PvP and a good loot system, a lot of people will be willing to pay 15$ a month to play it. When you look at the MMOs that had to go F2P after a few months, you'll notice that they simply weren't good enough to warrant renewing the subscription after a few months of play time. TERA, RIFT, SWTOR, The Secret World, AION among others were underwhelming and lacked the end...
After a month or so following the release of Diablo 3, I stopped playing, I had 2 level 60 characters and was stuck with my friends at the second act at Inferno. I was convinced by then that Diablo 3 was a mess and that I could find a better alternative.
I tried the Sacred series, Path of Exile, Torchlight one and two as well as Van Helsing; and recently I went back to Diablo 3 to check out the game once more. In my opinion, Diablo 3 is, overall, the game in its category (at ...
One day before GTA5, I wonder if this will affect FF14's sales. The game looks good, and I was very tempted to buy it after launch when a couple of friends picked it up, but was unable buy the digital version. But with GTA5 coming out tomorrow, not sure I'll pick it up afterall.
