There is a huge difference between the MS tax surcharge and the minimum funding policy incorporated on Sony's digital marketplace . Sales tax is mandated by the U.S. government and does not add to Microsoft's bottom line. Sony's minimum funding charge was set up at the behest of the corporation and is used as a way to offset credit card service fees and maximize profits.

There is nothing to "forgive" MS for since they are not responsible for the tax su...

@ The_Infected

So, your response to this unscrupulous practice is to deflect blame by citing MS for adhering to U.S. tax laws? OK...

You do realize that MS doesn't benefit financially from collecting sales tax, right? Actually, you obviously don't.

"It's the same design with a different layout not necessarily a new UI"

Nice stealth edit. Your original reply to crazychris had much more of a sarcastic tone. You intentionally misinterpreted his comment and made it appear that he was promoting the update as a "completely new UI".

You also retroactively changed your response to my comment to make yourself appear righteous. Interesting...

Please indicate where crazychris4214 or the author of his annotated article claimed that the Xbox One update was a going to include a "completely new UI".

You're always so quick to disparage any positive Xbox announcement. How do you know the full extent of the changes? Oh right, you don't...but a lack of insight has never stopped you before so I'm not surprised at your reaction.

At this point we may...

"Imo anything below 4 (hours) is terrible. How the hell do people play for so little?"

Everyone is not afforded the same amount of leisure time. There are quite a few gamers who have responsibilities such as school, work, community activities or family which take precedent over their hobbies. I'm lucky if I can squeeze in 4 hours of gaming a WEEK.

"years according to Microsoft are you know, like 3 months long give or take."

Really, again? That's the third time in a row that you've used that phrase in a comment. Gotta say, it's not really worth repeating.

I'm just going to go ahead and assume that your comment is a joke. Certainly no one in their right mind would actually believe that O'Connor was referring to the physical characteristics of the console.

Suddenly EVERY console owner now games on the PC too. Interesting...

About 15-20 of my family/friends own a game console. NONE of them play PC games, including myself and I own a very capable (GTX 1080, i7-6700K) rig.

The Jimquisition is still a thing?

I can't tolerate Sterling's shtick. It' so immature and hackneyed. He is certainly passionate about games but I find him to be insufferable.

*Edit* I was going to say that he's way too old to act like this until I looked up his age. HE'S ONLY 32! I though that he was in his 50s. I'm not kidding.

"Yea, no physical is great..." -- Yes, it can be depending on your perspective (and likely age). Here are my counterpoints:

"No borrowing games with friends n family." -- Borrowing/lending games can lead to uncomfortable situations. It's a well established fact that once you loan out any form of media (CD, DVD, Game, Book) then you're most likely not getting it back. I rarely ever get back any game or movie ...

"people around the world don't have internet and still play offline"

Ugh, people are still harping about this...

In your estimation, how many current-generation console owners (PS4 or Xbox One) are bereft of internet access?

Since the consoles (and most games) rely on the internet for essential updates and cost anywhere from $300-500 (without games or expensive HDTVs) then I'd say the number of current-generation game...

'it's never gong to happen".

The same was said about other physical media formats such as CDs, DVDs, PC games and to a lesser extent books. Each format has been eclipsed by its digital counterpart and in some cases practically eliminated. The majority of PC games aren't even published on physical media anymore. Do some research on music CD sales vs digital. It's a dying format.

Thanks for the link to that pillar of creditable journalism known as Metro UK. I found that web site very "interesting" but I wouldn't put too much stock in their reliability. Two of the headlines on the main page of the site deal with improbable events like an asteroid hitting a major city "it's going to happen" and World War 3 "where global Armageddon could kick off". So, no hyperbole there...LOL!
