Everyone is not afforded the same amount of leisure time. There are quite a few gamers who have responsibilities such as school, work, community activities or family which take precedent over their hobbies. I'm lucky if I can squeeze in 4 hours of gaming a WEEK.

About 15-20 of my family/friends own a game console. NONE of them play PC games, including myself and I own a very capable (GTX 1080, i7-6700K) rig.

The same was said about other physical media formats such as CDs, DVDs, PC games and to a lesser extent books. Each format has been eclipsed by its digital counterpart and in some cases practically eliminated. The majority of PC games aren't even published on physical media anymore. Do some research on music CD sales vs digital. It's a dying format.

Thanks for the link to that pillar of creditable journalism known as Metro UK. I found that web site very "interesting" but I wouldn't put too much stock in their reliability. There is a huge difference between the MS tax surcharge and the minimum funding policy incorporated on Sony's digital marketplace . Sales tax is mandated by the U.S. government and does not add to Microsoft's bottom line. Sony's minimum funding charge was set up at the behest of the corporation and is used as a way to offset credit card service fees and maximize profits.
