Surface Area: the total area of the surface of a 3D object, measured in square units
While the two terms are often used interchangeably (and incorrectly) the applicable phrase is surface area.

HDR is considered by many experts to be a larger leap in imaging technology than HD resolution. If you are going to attempt make a compelling argument against HDR then perhaps it may be in your best interest to actually recognize and comprehend the technology. I just tried playing Alan Wake via the Xbox One backwards compatibility program on a professionally calibrated Samsung JU6500 TV.
The image was a bit dark (in a room lit by sunlight) but I saw no evidence of black crush.
The report that the game is unplayable seems inaccurate from my perspective.
