Sony would debunk the Sun if it was a rumor. I think they just like everything to come out on their own schedule. I've seen the screens in question and they are definitely not fake. Now I don't know if it'll happen during the next firmware update, but it's obviously in the works.
Low budget games on a low budget console should be priced appropriately. It scares me that games like Mario Party 8, Brain Age, Wii Fit, and simple ports from last generation make more money than big budget games that are actually advancing the industry. The Wii could set the game industry back five years if Nintendo takes full advantage of it.
I'm all for innovation and I can't wait to see how Super Mario Galaxy and Metroid Prime turn out, but if Brain Age makes more money tha...

To answer your question though, according to N'Gai Croal (who played through the demo of Killzone 2) the entire level was loaded before the game even starts. So this "obscurity" that you're speaking of must be aesthetic.

Actually, I feel like COD4 looks more "realistic" while Killzone looks more "lifelike". That may not make sense, but COD4 is set in the real world whereas Killzone is science fiction. What I think you're seeing in Killzone is the amazing animation and physics going on.
There are so many subtle things going on in Killzone it's crazy. Even the weight of the gun is portrayed realistically.
This just isn't happening in COD4:

Yes we do, and after watching both the Killzone and COD4 trailers (many times, since both are awesome) I can't think of a legitimate reason for you to choose this over Killzone. Unless not paying $499 is your reason, lol.
Both will be great games. I just hope they don't come out at the same time.

I don't think anything in the near future will make this game look like trash. While I agree that Killzone is better on many levels, COD4 looks great. If they come out at separate times I'll play both for sure and I think anyone would be dumb not to.
They share great lighting, but Killzone's animations are just miles beyond anything seen to date. There's also a lot more going on in Killzone, but it manages to better COD4 in textures somehow as well (both are lacking in this area in comparison to the rest of the technical awesomeness, but they're both in alpha phase too...should improve).

Just took a look at a few of their videos and it's all pretty funny.
Every single thing we know about it makes it better. The graphics, the physics, the atmosphere, the action, the immersion, etc.
What gripe do you have about it? The guy has a gun, already been done? You don't own a PS3?
It's pre-alpha and already looks better than anything I've seen on a console. The animations are second to none, and the blood is ridiculously awesome.
My favorite part of E3 was watching this game, staring at animated gifs of it, and watching fanboys try to use COD4 as damage control.
If Killzone 2 lost all of its awesome physics and animation, it would be COD4. Alas, it's exclusive so people can't look directly into its glory.

Two brief checkpoints in an alpha build. Unacceptable.
If it was on 360 you'd be switching out discs at those checkpoints with all of the detail in the environments.
Don't believe it one bit. I don't doubt we'll see a $399 PS3 sooner or later, but a 40GB SKU with no backwards compatibility just isn't happening. The HDD won't be shrinking for cost effectiveness, and they won't leave out software backwards compatibility because that's just pointless.
I've been hanging around Kotaku quite a bit this morning, watching all of these interviews with Moore and Tretton (which are great btw). I never saw this video pop up.
Honestly, I wasn't impressed with the changes. Internal storage would have done it for me. However, I'm a sucker and will most likely get one anyway.

I've been looking forward to this the moment I learned Free Radical was making a new FPS. It looks good and I think it'll play really well.
I don't think it'll be a Halo killer, but I don't think a game has to kill Halo to be good. Personally, I think Halo is about to kill itself. The aesthetic choices they made last generation don't seem to be aging very well.
