Yes it was a big deal. How much healthier do you think Final Fantasy XI would have been if everyone with a PS2 could have played it? Honestly, it could have probably challenged WoW with the Final Fantasy name and that installed base.
Now we're past the PS2 and the 360 has an HDD problem. Next-gen games gain a lot from accessing the HDD as standard, and 360 games aren't allowed to do that. So stop veiling yourself with the past and look at what's curre...

Why the hell should we trust what Patcher thinks happened? He has no clue. Personally, I think it got delayed so they could use the 360's HDD since Microsoft announced recently that they would allow it.
This will be awesome if it's a PSN title, but I'm not spending $60 on it.
The PS3 trailer that showed gameplay looked identical to the 360 trailer. The only difference is the button icons. This video doesn't look as impressive, but I think it's more to do with the fact that this is legitimate online play and not an E3 presentation.
Media formats can't share their industry like soda does. One has to and will eventually win.
Umm...Blu-ray has not been "losing" for the past several months now. Nor are HD-DVD players selling better than Blu-ray players. That bit of mis-information came from the HD-DVD camp itself, and excluded PS3's while including 360 HD-DVD add-ons.
Blu-ray is winning on all fronts and shows no signs of slowing down.

There are so many GREAT games coming out that it's hard to put together a list like this. I was actually surprised by how good their list was, I expected Wii Fit or something to be up there. They need to fix that COD4 mistake though.
I don't know about Halo 3 being up there. It's basically a *good* looking next-gen Halo and nothing more. I don't see anything there to intrigue anyone who isn't already into Halo. It'll be huge for Halo fans, but they've all already pre-ordered it I'm sure.

Well they added LittleBigPlanet so I figured early '08 was fair. Although I believe a fully functional beta is supposed to be out this year.
Uncharted definitely looks great as well. Lair looks amazing too, I don't know enough about the gameplay to be sold on it though.

Apparently Call of Duty 4 is Microsoft's defense (albeit a weak one) against Killzone's graphical prowess. Most message boards seem to forget that the game is coming out for PS3, not surprised to see CNN make the same mistake.
