Even Microsoft can only subsidize their games for so long before they are going to need to make some real money from their games. Renting their games for pennies isn't going to pay the bills for 4-5 year development cycles of AAA games.
I don't recall Knack ever being billed as some big franchise like Gears which Microsoft needs to succeed as part of their plans to stay relevant before next gen.
If Microsoft's plan is simply to beat Knack with Gears they are in even more trouble than we think.
Your talking about a cut n paste sequel versus a brand new IP from the legend Hideo Kojima. The thing you guys who want to see the game fail is that Kojima is is keeping the story secret to give it even more of an impact not because he isn't confident in the quality.

I love when Nvidia says stuff like up to xx%. It always reminds me of Arkham City which performed badly on some computers so Nvida kept having these updates and I remember if you added up all the % performance enhancement it was well over 200%. Of course from the first patch to the last the gains were like 2-3 fps average.
Oh well, hopefully integer scaling is a real thing and not just a marketing buzzword because they are taking a bit of heat from AMD's RX's but ...

Unlike Microsoft who clearly was buying studios to keep games off PlayStation Sony didn't buy Insomniac for Sunset Overdrive, besides that game failed. Insomniac has more successful established Sony franchises than they have time to make already.
And if they are going to make a non-PlayStation franchise I'd rather they do something new.
