The market is in no way the same as it was back then, people play shit like COD and Fortnite.
That sounds true on paper but because of the arcadey quickshooting nature of COD it actually makes it frustrating for both sides. You could argue that strategies need to change for people to adapt but the gameplay style doesn't compliment that, also you're talking about a decade old franchise and people won't want to adjust the way they play to adapt to an unwanted phenomenon.
It's not shadows or dark interiors, it's all the visual noise that makes people right in front of you look camouflaged. Cod is far from a realistic shooter, you rely on reflexes and quickly aiming at your opponent. If everyone in front of you looks camouflaged it makes it frustrating for both sides to enjoy it the way Cod games have always been enjoyed. Actually this is a known phenomenon in multiplayer shooters, as graphics have gotten better it's made it difficult to see enemies...

Well Destiny 2 is essentially an MMO now. They barely upgraded the engine from Destiny 1 to 2 so I doubt they will do it now. Since it's free to play they'll just keep releasing expansions.

This game is absolutely amazing in VR, never experienced anything like it.
Except Ryse was really a stunning next gen looking game visually with a variety of locations. This doesn't stun me, it looks like an upscaled current gen game. Ratchet and Clank is probably the only next gen looking game this year.
