Well you won't be playing their games on PS4, other than Minecraft of course.
Personally, I tune in to E3 every year, because I like the industry focus, and the big corporate presentations. People need to go back and watch the E3 presentation that launched the PS4, with the $399.99 launch price, the fact that the PS4 would have 8GB of DDR5 Memory, and the Sony's used game policy... the crowd went absolutely nuts. There is no other environment where Sony could have gotten that same kind of effect, which catapulted them into their current successful run.
Sony's arrogance is back in full force unfortunately. It's quite something, when they believe they are too big to share the stage with all of the other major publishers out there, and their main console hardware competitor with Xbox, but this is a major tactical error. Honestly, this is going to be very entertaining to watch, and will be very educational to anyone who is interested in how business works in the big tech world. Time to just sit back and enjoy the show!
What??????????
There's no other dedicated game console on the market that is both backward and forward compatible. Anyone who did by an OG Xbox One has to be happy with that investment.
I agree, and the Ryzen 5 3600 is still an excellent CPU, beating out the last gen 8 core Ryzen 2700X in pretty much all gaming benchmarks, but the info that has come out so far says that the PS5 will have 8 cores with 16 threads.
@ Marky
Ryzen 2700X is Zen+ not Zen 2
RX 5700XT has 40 CUs, not 36, as the RX 5700 has.
This is based on all of the info that has come out at this point in time.
They are aiming for an enthusiast demographic with this product.
- Ryzen 7 3700X 8 Core/16Thread (underclocked)
- RX 5700 with 36 CUs clocked @ 2Ghz (9.2 Tflops) on 7nm+
- 12 Gb GDDR 6 Memory
- 1 TB SSD
Well then "as a developer", you must not make software for use on PC hardware. I mean really, what a ridiculous bunch of nonsense you just wrote.
@ Sibyl1
It's pretty much a guarantee, that all 3rd party developers will make games that will either port over from PC to consoles, and from consoles to PC, meaning that they will design their games to use traditional hard drives as well as solid state drives. They will most likely not use anything proprietary that Sony may or may not have on the PS5.
Besides, as long as an SSD allows a level or part of an open world to load up within a few seconds, ...
@ Atom666
This is correct. Microsoft is concerned about selling more software, and what better way to do that, than to allow your existing customers to buy that software on hardware they already own. The people who will spend the $500.00 or so on a new console, will do so because they want a proper 4K experience on their new 4K TV that they might have just purchased, and in order for that to happen, you need a powerful console that natively renders games @ 4K. This is why p...
@ CaptainHenry916
If Sony is that arrogant, then they have completely forgotten what they learned from the PS3 launch. I refuse to believe that they would be arrogant enough to skip the biggest show in the video game industry, for such an important product launch.
I agree with this. People on this site seem to believe that E3 isn't relevant anymore, but in reality, it's still the biggest show for video game related products in the world. Pachter is correct in saying, that all you have to do is look back to 7 years ago, to see just how important first impressions are, when launching a game console.
@ Thundercat77
That is simply not true. Go onto youtube, and check out the 4K PC gameplay and graphics analysis for RDR2 on PC. This is a game that is available on the base PS4(1.84 Tflops) and OG Xbox One(1.3 Tflops), but the graphical settings for this game are so demanding, when set to 'Ultra Settings' @ 4K, that even the most powerful graphics card on the market, the RTX 2080 TI with 13.4 Tflops of processing power, can't run the game at 4K/60fps.

@ Jin
It just goes to show how little of an understanding you have when it comes to game development. If you were into PC gaming, you would easily understand why making a game work across a range of hardware options will have no effect on a game, running on hardware at the highest end of the spectrum.
While you were sleeping.
What we should expect, is for a developer not to say stupid things, such as "don't expect massive visual leaps". The textures, lighting and detail of the environments and character models will be far better than current gen. In addition, everything will output at higher native resolutions, and will play at higher framerates.
Great for gamers!
The brain power from commenters in this thread is weak beyond belief. It's clear why most people commenting on this article aren't PC gamers, and why you need a device which only has an off and on button, and is never meant to be opened up or upgraded. Essentially, consoles are PCs with training wheels, which is perfect for most of you.
People who purchase the Xbox Series X, will get the best visual experience, along side high end gaming PCs. People who don't bu...
