This makes no sense.
Sheesh, I can't believe that there are so many people against pro-consumer policies.

It's tough to have a conversation about game development, when you clearly do not understand how game development and hardware work. On PC, all games have different selectable graphics settings. Being that this is the case, graphics settings are adjusted based on the hardware you're running. Some hardware is old and weak, and some hardware is cutting...

The consumer who buys the best hardware, will get the best visual and possibly even sound experience. This is very similar to PC gaming in that respect. Microsoft is taking a different approach to Sony, and I for one, am quite pleased with this approach. As long as I get to play the games, I'm happy. I don't care if it's PC or console, so long as i'm playing on the best hardware that I can afford, or that I'm willing to spend my money on.
I still have to finish TLoU on PS3. I got about half way through about 6 weeks ago, and just haven't gone back to it since. It has lots of great qualities, but something about it makes it seem more like work than fun. I will finish it soon though...I promise.
It's refreshing to see a company adopt a very pro-consumer way of doing things.
When Steam started digital sales in China a year or two ago, the Chinese flooded onto the scene fast. If you play Ghost Recon: Wildlands, it seems like everyone on there is Chinese. Also, if you go into the discussion pages for any of the games, you see almost as many Russian threads as you do English ones now.
Xbox Series X Director Asks: why so serioussss?
I agree, but I think the main difference between Sony's PS3 and Microsoft's Xbox One, is that Sony already had their game studio resources in-place. They knew Killzone 2, Uncharted 2, Resistance 2, Socom Confrontation, God of War 3 and many other huge games were coming, and they had the studio horsepower to produce many high quality exclusive games that would entice gamers to buy a PS3. Personally, I didn't need any convincing, I bought my PS3 only a few months after launch, at a ...
I agree, that is essentially what I'm talking about. My point is that if you don't launch the product properly, you're screwed, because consumers form opinions quickly in the early stages of a products lifespan, and they spread their opinions around to their friends and family, which creates a domino effect against the poorly launched product. It would have been a miracle for Microsoft to make a comeback big enough to rival Sony in hardware sales this generation after what Don Mat...
Sony won because they won the initial information war regarding what PS4 was all about. They also had a lower price and a more powerful consol at launch (roughly 30% more powerful).
Once you mess up the messaging of your console at release, launch at a higher price point and have weaker hardware, you're automatically at a massive disadvantage, and this is where word or mouth starts to create a domino effect, where it becomes almost impossible to catch up.
This is going to be a PC gamers type of console, which means that the price might be a bit higher than what the mass market likes, but then again, you wouldn't expect a product like this (12 Tflops) to be aiming for the peasantry market. This product will be aimed straight at gaming enthusiasts, so my guess is $599.99 for Xbox Series X at a minimum.
I think the Lockhart console will be the real surprise, which will match Sony's lower power output @ 9.2 Tflops, and ...
No, no, no, you're saying it all wrong….. it's 'big boi'.
lol, these articles are getting better everyday!
Thats the position I'm in right now. The next 6 months are going to be very interesting in both the PC and console hardware space.
The Alienware UFO looks bad ass! I would seriously consider getting one of these things.
It should be $549.99, since I personly believe that Sony deserves to make some money on their hardware, even if the margin is small.
That's because Tencent is 'Communist Chinese Party approved'.
Colluding with the communist Chinese is never a good thing.
Not a big deal, as we already know that the PS5 will be pushing 9.2 Tflops of processing power, will have an SSD, will use a Zen2 CPU Tech with 8 cores & 16 threads, and Navi Graphics tech with 36 compute units, running at 2Ghz, and now we know.....it's called the PS5.
Sony will reveal their product whenever they get their sh** together. Up until this point, high level executives have been leaving the company and Microsoft has been poaching developers from Sony Santa Monica and Naughty. They also just had a major press conference to show a logo, revealing that the console is called the PS5, and they just designed and showcased a new electric car, because they are totally in the automotive business....so who knows what's going on over there.
