Maybe they were showing only big games that were part of the main series? They also missed 3D Blast, Spinball, Shuffle, etc...
Cloud being mainstream? Maybe once the U.S. gets a better infrastructure. A good 1/3rd of the population has no access to high speed internet(or good highspeed) due to the fact that the phone/cable companies are too cheap to offer it outside of cities.
If improving something that already exists is innovation then I guess COD Black Ops is innovative. Improving on something is just improving on something, it's not innovation unless it's something that has never been done before.
Nevertheless I think as far as innovation goes, they are both just mild improvements of what was already out there hardware wise.
I don't take these awards seriously because there is always someone saying something differ...
@Vaud - No... The Move far improves on the original Wiimote design. The Kinect also on the Eyetoy. They both are more advanced than their predecessors, but they both play exactly the same way and neither are more innovative than the other.
Moving, zooming, and telling depth is about as little innovation as the Move being able to do that over the original Wiimote.
Don't give me that crap! If Move is just a more advanced wiimote then the same goes for the Kinect being just a more advanced PSEye.
I know Sony never capitalized on the PSEye and not a whole lot of games were made for it, but that doesn't mean it did not exist. Neither of the peripherals are innovative, NEITHER.
You guys are retarded, just because they sell DLC doesn't mean they are obsessed with revenue. They still make the game for consumers to enjoy and you all are being irrational. By your logic you might as well say why not make the whole game free.
I wonder why Ninja Theory aren't packing their bags and fleeing this series immediately? That's what they did with Heavenly Sword because it didn't sell well and this sold far less!
@MrSpace - Eyetoy sold over 10 million. It didn't really do poorly for a peripheral.
More innovative? It's a more advanced eyetoy and the PS3 has a few games just like it(Kung Fu Live).
The simple problem with D3 is that they were rushed by the publisher. It would have been ace if they had ironed it out because the driving portions were awesome and they had that down better than anyone.
I really hope a legit Driver 4 comes out after San Fransisco that allows you to get out of the car again.
Oh like companies haven't done this from the beginning of time. People have been buying repackaged stuff for forever! SUPER Street Fighter II ring a bell? Repackaged with a few extra characters, whoopty doo!
Plenty of people care about Twisted Metal.
Interesting because the PS2 was difficult to program for as well and look at how it turned out.
Heck, the difference between launch and 2007 on the PS2 is astronomical, almost like a half generational leap. Launch games looked like cleaned up PS1 games nearly. Full of jaggies and blocky, but smoother textures.
Dude... Seriously, did Jaffe EVER say Uncharted 3 was "GAME OF THE YEAR!!!!?" No? I didn't think so. Did he ever say PS3 exclusives were great because of graphics? No? I didn't think so either.
In fact, Twisted Metal has never been known for its great graphics. Aside from Black, when a TM launched it was pretty average as far as graphics go.
As far as his rant goes, I agree. I'm tired of journalists hyping up a game over very little foo...
Ninja Theory PLANNED on going multiplatform after not being happy with Heavenly Sword's performance. It is not Insomniac's intentions to go fully multiplatform, there is the key difference. Insomniac still plans on supporting the Playstation where as Ninja Theory did not.
@Ghoul, I never said they were lazy devs for not learning it. I'm just saying anything is hard if you do not understand it. People had to learn the standard architecture at some point as well.
You do realize the standard models from the PS2 game weren't left untouched? They updated the models with more polygons. They even have standards that weren't from the PS2 game like the Veyron and the standards still look much better than 99% of the games out there.
Consoles + PC = 60% 30% of the extra is probably handhelds like DS, 3DS, PSP. And the rest is apps and stuff.
He's only saying this because Nintendo is popular right now. Nintendo's franchises didn't help them when Playstation hit with all of their completely new IPs(and a few old ones like FF/MGS).
I disagree, Shadow was a good character.
