They showed the shooter crowd what they wanted. Now MS wants to draw in the casual crowd. If you think that 360s days are numbered because they're trying to appeal to a new audience, then you're naive. If things work out for MS, they will draw in a major audience while still retaining their current gamers.
So far, they've showed off mostly shooter games. According to PS3 fanboys, that's all the 360 fans want, so why is 360 doomed again?
When it comes to the future of their involvement in the gaming industry, I think MS will listen. They have a lot riding on Kinect. It can make or break them. Or at the very least it will force them to work harder on marketing the 360 if they have to cut loos Kinect if and when it fails to garner expected sales.
They might still be decided on how much to charge for it. They're still gauging public reception of the product. So far, that circus event fucked up everything, I think. They may have to do some damage control with a better media event tomorrow on MTV as well as more talk show coverage.

Agreed. I said a couple of weeks ago that all Microsoft had to do to impress me at E3 was announce that they had acquired at least five studios and that they were hard at work.
I was pleased with their usual Halo/Gears showings but I am frustrated at their reluctance to build up first party studios.

Dude I'm watching the Halo Reach gameplay and all I can say is fuck the haters. The gameplay looks amazing. The visuals have taken such a leap forward that I'm not sure how the 360 can do it but it's doing it.
That's all I got to say. When I logged in a couple hours ago and saw all the negative news about the 360 press conference I was expecting the worst, so far I've watched the Gears 3 demo and now the Reach demo and they're both great. This show...
It would also further the assumption that the only people who buy these redesigned 360s are people who own 360s already.
Microsoft is going to assume that most people who purchase this 360 won't need a transfer cable, so they're aren't going to go the extra mile for the people who do need it.
Are these transfer cables also proprietary? Will a third party transfer cable work on this? If not, Microsoft is at it again.

No such thing as future proof. People who think the PS3 is future proof are extremely naive. It's not going to last forever. By next gen, the PS3 will be as irrelevant as the PS2 was when the PS3 launched.
