Looks freakin sweet. Though I can't help thinking that some of this is high-end PC footage mixed in with console feed, cos some of it looks much better than other bits. It'll be great either way, but I really do hope that it will look that awesome on console too! I have it preordered on PS3 and Xbox 360, just waiting for some comparisons to make my mind up. The PS3 version looks slightly better to me, but all my pals are on 360 so I'll probably go with that. Controls are better on 360 too. Ei...
...and I went out and bought the first Bad Company game with the proceeds. The first game is fun if a bit ropey looking. The sequel is AMAZING from what I have played so far, which is two maps. I've been loving experimenting with classes, finding cool places to snipe from, trying different tactics. I love the way that score is balanced so well between the classes, so in fact you can get as many points from healing teamates as from killing enemies. There's nothing like blowing up a tank and ge...
...and I'm really enjoying it. The first game felt a little loose and over-long to me. The story was convoluted and drawn out. So far, Bioshock 2 feels a much tighter experience. The gunplay is better too, though still very different to your average 'war' FPS. Rapture is still an enthralling place, though so far it feels a bit smaller. Still lots of nice attention to detail thoigh.
Overall, I'm pleased, and I think all you fickle gamers should give it a go. Reviewers are only m...
Was in the ps3 beta, and now played both versions of the demo for a few
hours each. My opinon - ps3 looks better. Less lag, less
tearing, cleaner generally. Evidence - bushes! Much nicer on ps3 : )
Controls on the ps3 feel tighter and more responsive too, tho the 360 controller is better for comfort, ESP when spotting. I'm sticking with my ps3 preorder.
Got my limited-run Rapture Edition yesterday from Zavvi for £29.95. Says they've already despatched it as well! I was going to skip Bioshock 2 cos the first one was just OK in my book, but at this price I couldn't resist. Plus the Rapture Edition isn't being released in America so the PS3 version (region free) will probably be quite sellable!
@dchalfont - Zavvi are pretty good, I've used them for a bunch of things. They used to have a massive chain of high street stores be...
Is the disagree cos I left my xbox on and its using electric? Hmmm, well since I recylce, walk to work, only use my car when necessary and work for the goddam Department of Environment - I think I live a pretty 'green' life!
...at home all day, just so I could queue this from the office. Been waiting for a decent AvP game since I saw Aliens at the tender age of 10 in 1990!
Hopefully my 360 won't have RRoD'd and/or burned my house down....
Point taken. MAG certainly is innovative in terms of its squad structure, though I dunno if there are PC games which already have something similar? Beyond that though... meh.
I guess I just don't get what the problem is - I grew up as a Nintendo fan in 80s, and now that Ninty have gone all 'lifestyle' and abandonded their fans I don't much care about which console is better cos I have them both. A game is a game to me, I'll get the best version and leave the rest to it. I just...
This thread exemplifies everything that is wrong with games reviewing nowadays. You people don't seem to understand the purpose of a scale - out of 10, 5 is the AVERAGE. Therefore a 6 is ABOVE AVERAGE, and therefore a good game. This is the scale that Edge (and to some extent Eurogamer) uses but it seems to have been abandoned by every other games site and magazine, who seem to use the scale of 5 - 10 in 0.5 increments, where 7.5 is the average. So this makes Edge look overly harsh. If Edge u...
I played in the PS3 Beta and loved it, despite getting access quite late and getting pwned by everyone who had unlocked the weapons (there were WAY more weapons, perks etc to unlock in the beta).
Downloaded the 360 demo last week and am also really enjoying it, but there can be no doubt that it looks inferior to the PS3 beta. This is most noticeable when crouching in foliage e.g. when sniping - the plants look really fuzzy and blocky. I also noticed a lot more framerate drops o...
I'd give her one.... :D
Seriously though, Bayonetta is as hyper-realistic as the rest of the game. Its the style, and it works brilliantly in my opinion. Too many people are just looking at screenshots or playing the demo and dismissing it, when in fact the game is whacked out and ace. You just have to remember - its one big joke!
Personally, I think this is another example of the inherent prudishness of a lot of Americans. The rest of the world has pretty much no problem with the sexual content in games or anything else, sex is a healthy and natural thing to be celebrated. What this author seems to miss is the incredible levels of violence and gore in Bayonetta and many of the other games he mentions. Is he happy to play GTA4 in front of his kids, mowing down cops and civilians, as long as there are no flesh-coloured ...
Nice article. We don't tend to have the same sorts of bargain sales here in the UK, which is a shame. If one retailer drops their prices then they all do, generally, so its not such a problem. But then I'm not often on the lookout for cheap games, I tend to buy on release date or not at all.
I was a newbie to Fallout with the last game (and I only finished that in August, so was late to it) and I loved it.
However, excluding VATS, the feel and impact of the guns sucked. I know its a big game and there is an awful lot to fit in to one DVD/bluray, but it is the key way in which the player interacts with the world so it should feel and look as good and naturalistic as possible.
I still think that Killzone 2 had my favourite 'feel' in that the player w...
But Game UK won't send the beta code out til next Monday. Grrr! I guess I'll have to play broke-ass MW2 til then. Oh, and complete Demon's Souls. yay!
Try telling that to those blokes in Guantanamo Bay who have been languishing in jail for up to 8 years with no trial. Innocent until proven guilty my A$$!
Besides, this isn't even a law yet. As a few of the better-educated and more observant N4G clientele have correctly identified, this is proposed legislation. It hasn't been debated or discussed in Parliament, and no doubt the House of Lords, a staunch bunch of conservatives who are generally opposed to unnecessary legislation...
I don't have the time to level up my multiplayer on Modern Warfare 2 and play Demon's Souls! Fortunately I think MW2 is going to be like a one-night stand, whereas I see Demon's Souls being a life-long romance, with flowers, fireworks, kids and holding hands in the old folks home. Sweet Jebus this game rules.
I like that this guy describes the fear and dread, and the compulsion to continue, instead of just banging on about the online features etc etc like all the other reviewers. He really conveys what feels like to play the game.
I've been taking my time, 40 hours in so far and I'm up to soul level 52, on 4-2 at the moment. Damn second reaper just lost me 44,000 souls, the git.
Seriously, I know they have had sone dubious reviews (Tho in hindsight I agree with their Killzone 2 score - it was polished but totally unoriginal and generic) and some of their editorials can be a bit out there, but they are a clever bunch of guys writing for clever gamers. Not everyone wants their game news and reviews from hacks spunking their wad over screenshots. At least Edge are properly critical instead of frothing at the mouth at every demo they are shown. On topic, this guy is clea...
...it seems to me like it must cost a LOT! Every time some new graphical beast comes out I'd be tempted to go and upgrade my cards etc. And to be honest I don't have a clue when it comes to all the lingo and techie stuff. I'm happy enough being another idiot console player, but I am a bit jealous. Go PC!
However, you have to admit there is something a lot geekier about gaming on a PC....
