Another great score! And a well written review, more so than the Guardian one. It really delves in to what makes the game great, and is fair about some of the negatives.
Weird how these early reviews all seem to be coming from UK sources, when its the US who actually get the game tomorrow - we've got to wait til Friday. :(
Seriously super-psyched for this game! I have returned to Demon's SOuls this weekend to sharpen my skills after a pretty long hiatus, and to attempt to finally finish the damn thing - got my arse handed to me several dozen times, even by fairly low-level soldiers on lvl 4-3. Damn, you really need to practise practise practise at this!
I really think that anyone who has played Demon's Souls is going to have a massive advantage over those who haven't, at least in ...
I think From might have patched the 'quick quit' method out of Demon's SOuls now, and I doubt it will work in Dark Souls.
I did that on my first play through, but I realised it wasn't the way the game should be played - if you mess up, deal with the consequences and learn from it. Much like life. So now I don't quick qui
Not a great review, but a good score. So excited! Pissed off that we have to wait til Friday in the UK though. Grrr.
I'm guessing that wink at the end of your comment is meant to signify sarcasm? I hope so!
Ha, he's had his youtube account suspended cos Epic have claimed he's infringing their copyright! He must have posted the whole of Gears 3 up there or something, the numbskull.
@jessupj
I did the same thing when playing the US version. It is a pretty cheap trick, but god I needed it that first time through. When I bought the UK version I resolved not to do it, but I still did it accidentally a few times - muscle memory would have my fingers taking me back to the XMB out of sheer rage before I knew what I was doing!!
Agreed, Dark Souls needs to be played like it is intended. No rage-quitting!
I've spent about 7 hours playing so far - and have only completed the first mission! Since I was let out in to the Detroit hub, I have spent hours rifling through random apartments (only to find I have to go back later for a side mission - I really like that the game hadn't closed them off to me before I'd spoken to the correct NPC to start the side mission)and sneaking my way in to hostile areas to methodically and silently takedown every guard, so that when I had to go back late...
Thanks Zilla - I went and had a look after reading your post and that is a great website, loads of free themes. Easy to use as well.
Dan Brown basically craps on paper, folds it in half, hands it to his manager and says "publish that". And yes I have read The Da Vinci Code, I only finished cos I was expecting it to get better - I couldn't believe that THIS was the book that the whole world was going mad for.
Utter cack.
From Dust is kinda like that... in setting at least.
Was this written by a 10 year old? Seriously, what a dumbass waste of time. He mixes up terrain with context ('forest' and 'desert' are completeley different concepts to 'space opera' or 'modern war' - they are not mutually exclusive and can in fact be complimentary - you could easily have a 'modern war in a forest') and claims that "every single game uses this" for a number of the entries - how can they use them all? Muppet.
I think the graphics look fine, and though the gameplay doesn't look spectacularly original it seems like a pretty solid FPS to me, with some great destructability. I am basing that on the video though cos I'm in work and haven't had the chance to play the demo yet.
30FPS looks more cinematic, because film runs at 24FPS. 60FPS can look great in certain games (e.g. Burnout Paradise) but personally I think it can look a bit strange in other games and makes them seem more 'gamey'. I didn't much care for God of War 3 for that very reason (and the gameplay wasn't my cup of tea either).
The graininess you sometimes get with 30FPS is awesome for war games too!
That is awesome. Add in a few motors and I'll have one for sure.
I don't geter everyone whining that "most people have all these games". Rubbish! Most of those games (all of them?) have sold less than 5 million copies. Considering PS3 has an installed base of around 45 million, the percentage of gamers who have ALL those games must be pretty tiny. I have two of them (Infamous and LBP), I expect most people have one or less. So - no, not everyone has all these games. It just seems that way because all the moaning is being done by gamers on gam...
There are two scales here: 5/10 is the median, in that it is the middle score on a scale of 10. It is the average value of an individual game's quality on a scale of 10, the allocation of which will likely take in to account the reviewer's experience with similar titles or even all videogames.
However, 7/10 CAN become the average score when it is the MODE, i.e. the most frequently used score. If out of 1000 games 600 of them are scored 7/10, then 7 becomes the avera...
American aversion to nudity arises directly from the puritanical Christian beliefs on which America was founded - the pilgrims left Britain for America essentially because they felt Europe was becoming debased and evil, and they wanted to practice a far harder line of Chrisianity. This is why America is today still a very religious country, while in England you only find a handful of people who regularly attend church.

Looks great, although I'm sure that is the same mission I read previews about over a year ago, it would be good to see something else - do any missions take place above-ground? What scope is there for exploring? How about grenades? We need answers!
Also, I hope that was on Easy mode cos it looked far too simple to just mow through the bad guys.
Eurogamer is a great site, yeah their scores aren't always what I thought they would be but their reviews are always fair and well written. I'd rather criticism than rampant fanboyism. Saying that, I'm also a subscriber to Edge, another much-hated source of reviews on this site!
Come on Shopto, send it send it send it send it noooowwww!
I even took the unusual step of pre-paying for this game in the hope they might just whack it in the post a bit early!...
