I'm not watching this review until I have the game in my hands and half-completed. But 8.5? Well there's no accounting for taste I guess, some people just aren't in to this sort of thing. Maybe the lack of flash grenades and auto-aiming put him off?
Or you could pay for it, keep it, and help support an industry which gives you hours and hours of entertainment for relatively little money.

Portal 2 is looking freakin sweet.
How was the first one drawn out? It was a 3 hour puzzle game with some light story elements. I thought it was perfectly proportioned in just about every way, but if anything I wished it was longer! I recently re-bought the Orange Box just to play through Portal again, and then I bought Still Alive when it was 50% off on Live last week! I just can't get enough puzzling!

I too own Reach, Uncharted 2, Killzone 2 & 3, Gears of War etc. The Xbox simply cannot keep up with the PS3 exclusives, although Gears and Reach do look pretty good. I don't care though, cos Xbox kicks PS3's ass up and down the street when it comes to multiplatform games. I own both so I get the best of both.

Innit. I'm totally pro-environmental (I work for for a European government on their marine nature conservation policy) but I'm a realist, not some hippy acid-head drop out. The Japanese earth quake is TOTALLY UNRELATED TO POPULATION SIZE.

Most games are available in the UK for around 33% of their recommended retail price within a few weeks of going on sale. Big woop.
EDGE thought the first game was crap too - they gave it a 5 (average score). They gave DA2 a 6 so you could be right, the game might be better. But it's still not very good.

I read the full preview and interview this morning. While I think Ueda is a genius, he comes across as a bit of a prat in the interview. He claims not to see how or why his games are special, and doesn't express much love for his work or creations. He only talks about the game in terms of mechanics and tech, rather than the emotional investment it draws out of players. To quote "It's just a game, like any other game". Now I might be wrong but I'd hoped for a bit more pas...
Vice City was Miami, San Andreas is LA (and surrounding cities).
No way this will be out until Q3 or Q4 2012 at the EARLIEST. I just don't see it happening sooner. Though saying that unless they have totally rebuilt the engine most of the heavy tech work has been done.
