I'd like just one really good game at 2023 frame rates.
For me it hinges on how much the gameplay revolves around the first person shooter mechanics that they showed in their demo this past week. If the primary gameplay loop is mostly that, I think 30 fps was a terrible choice, and if you think that it is an artistic choice then you are probably a terrible artist. If that represents a small part of the gameplay and it is more RPG focused, then it might still be OK so long as it doesn't have stutters and 20fps dips. I'll still mostly be pla...
I doubt we will get a 60 fps mode patched into this one. I certaintly wouldn't be holding my breath for it.
I frankly don't think dreamcastguy was necessarily wrong -- I don't think any of us really know yet but we will on release. To him it looked unfinished -- and when I especially watch the first person shooter sequences they showed off, I would have to agree with him (even though I disagree with a lot of what he says).
Someone posted a magazine scan of a review of a 486 talking about a smooth 20 fps experience in Doom. People's expectations change over the years. IMO, it is time to bury 30 fps in the past.
Crazy that anyone would defend this. Looks like Series X is a great console if you enjoy 30 fps experiences...
It needs to have more than VR Experiences until I purchase it. The only thing that is coming out that looks kind of interesting is Resident Evil 4 VR mode, but I'd rather see completely new games designed for VR.
While we are on the subject, the fatalities in MK11 were super long winded and got old fast. I hope they don't make them even longer and/or have the ability to turn them off entirely. I don't mind the violence, I just find watching the exact same animation over and over to be boring after awhile, especially if it is long.
Nah.
I'm going to be against higher prices for always because I'm the consumer and higher prices hurt me. That being said, the amount of hours I will get out of this game put it in the category of "low cost entertainment" even at the $70 price point.
Performance feels about the same in dock mode and handheld for me.
Ofc expectations were high from previous work and so ofc the fall was further down. I know, I know, I'm so punny.
Nintendo has done a few sales of BoTW+DLC at $60 - but it has been a long time. This was shortly after DLC2 came out, iirc.
I think 720p is fine for a portable. I wouldn't expect Nintendo to target Series S performance. I expect it will perform better than Switch, but I fully expect Nintendo to take the same considered approach they took with Switch with whatever new portable they come out with. The original Switch has a severely underclocked GPU in the name of battery life, for example.
Agreed. Emulation is NOT piracy and emulation is preserving gaming history.
I recently reset my Switch and was flabbergasted at how many of my old cartridges would not play without some download from the eshop. It is like they all need authentication from Nintendo's servers in the form of a small update to play on a Switch with recent firmware. If Nintendo decides to shut down these servers, there is a good possibility that a lot of my purchased content, including phys...
I won't add clicks to the site, but at the rate that they have been releasing Pokemon titles, I imagine they want to keep sales high on recent titles don't want to exhaust their core market.
"Better play experience" on Steam Deck emulating Switch games -- eh, hardly. You get about the same as Switch performance in some games, but most games will lag on Steam Deck. For example Metroid Dread plays almost perfectly on the Steam Deck with occasional level traversal stutter that you don't get on Switch. Mario Odyssey is an unstable 40-60 fps on Steam Deck where it is a stable 60 fps on Switch.
IMO Diablo 2 captured what is great about Diablo 1 and expanded on it. Diablo 1 is a great game, don't get me wrong. I just don't have much desire to play it when there is Diablo 2.
Ahh here it is -- author hasn't played Diablo 2.
"I still haven’t played Diablo 2, but I would certainly like to when I am able to afford it."
Yeah, these are more-or-less collectables/coffee table books these days. Like the Elden Ring two volume one that we are still waiting for the 2nd volume to release which was suppose to happen in April I thought....
WE GET IT! The game isn't 30 fps because a Microsoft studio missed the target on the Microsoft console - it is because Bethesda made CHOICES! #ImWithDreamcastGuy
