No, actually reacting to the market is how Sony threw $400 million (reportedly) at Concord.
I had two years of game pass that came with my Series X and the value just wasn't there for me. They would need to lower the price back to something below $10 for their top tier offerings for me to even consider another sub and that isn't happening.
I've only played it on PS5 where it has been 60fps since launch.
Weren't people saying it was running poorly on Switch 2 at CES earlier this year? I hope they fix that before release. If they can do 60 fps in handheld mode I might pick it up -- otherwise not interest in playing this game at 30 fps.
Still love how I picked up a physical PS4 disc of this at Best Buy for $10 a few weeks after launch because of how bad it was on PS4. The physical disc came with a ton of stuff too, like a map of night city and postcards.
I don't mind frame gen but only use it if I'm already >70fps without it. It is kinda nice but if I see any visual artifacts I will turn it off. Whenever I'm playing games on my 120Hz LG C3 I will almost never use it because frame rates >120fps look really bad. I think spatial super sampling is a far more interesting and beneficial tech than frame gen. Boosting 30fps to 60fps with framegen is just garbage.
I wanted to like the original one and really enjoyed the combat and atmosphere, but all those puzzles where you have to use that stupid lantern really killed the pace of the game for me and made not want to play it. Just added layers of complexity that ultimately ruined the game for me.
PS5 and PS5 Pro are already behind PC hardware. Since running HDMI directly from my PC to my TV in my entertainment center I rarely play games on my PS5 Pro anymore. These prices push me further in the PC-only direction. A delayed PS6 also push me further in the PC-only direction. This might be my last console generation.
@got_dam - This site just leans hard PS5-fanboy and I had the audacity to say that the PC version is great without heaping on the praise for the glorious PS5. That is why. I don't really care, just explaining why.
As expected. Its a great PC game. I love mouse+keyboard controls. But no surprises here.
I've given this game 2 fair 20 hour attempts and it just not for me. The game is boring and there isn't any lore to carry it like Fallout and Elder Scrolls have.
I think I'm fine with the enhanced lighting that is ultimately more contrasty -- I'm not sure I agree it is more realistic or not. The models ofc look a lot better because this is Starfield we are talking about, but it looks like more than just enhanced lightning on the models. It looks like all new geometry being rendered which makes me question if this will ever communicate an artistic intent.
Looks to just override the artist's intent and do whatever. I do think that Starfield looked better though.
Good to finally see. PSSR and the Pro has been a mixed bag since launch.
Well, they are all a lot of fun.
@qalpha I didn't think people considered Sekiro a souls game.
Man...for some reason I thought the PS5 was ARM. Didn't realize it was x86.
" Somehow we got the best possible timeline for PSSR."
I'm happy they fixed it for us PS5 Pro owners and a patch is coming to hopefully fix other titles, but I guess I'm not following you here. A better timeline would no doubt be a much better PSSR out-the-gate that didn't leave some games looking like ass (e.g., every UE5 game I think...).
I hope the upgrade doesn't require each developer to update their game or else some are going to be stuck looking like shit on PS5 Pro forever. They need to have it setup so that they can update PSSR and games just look better without the devs needing to do anything because studios are notoriously lazy about this stuff, especially Japanese devs.
Edit: Ok it looks like there is a system wide toggle. Good.
If they decide to go back to releasing console exclusives, I suspect they will claw back their plans for a PC-ish XBox as well in favor of a more traditional subsidized box model. They definitely fumbled this gen. If Halo Infinite would have been released along side Series S/X (and was a lot better game), they would have fared a better chance against Sony I think.
