IIRC, these were the same terms with the original Warcraft III. Even though Valve hired the developer of Defense of the Ancients, they could not call their own game Defense of the Ancients 2 because Blizzard claimed ownership since it was made on their platform. Valve ended up just calling it DOTA 2.

I may be in the minority of folks who want both MS and Sony to continue to do well and be good competition for each other as that is what is most beneficial to me, the consumer.

It is news when the last fps game they worked on, Rage 2, had the fucking BFG as part of the Digital Deluxe edition and later a pay-for addon to the game. What kinda bullshit is that?

So year! After experiencing that, they need to make some noise because my first thought when Doom Eternal was announced that they would probably take the same route they did with Rage 2.

This is a confusing article, for sure.

> None of them grabbed me enough to make me want to spend 10, 20, 100 hours in their worlds, not in the way Skyrim, Valkyria Chronicles, or Heavy Rain did.

The complaints that revolved around open-world gameplay was odd given the author's praise for Skyrim that they opened the article with.

Metroidvania is almost exclusively a single player game trope. Author thinks it creates repetitive gam...

It would be nice to have something like a "lewd" tag that I could both filter out while I'm at work and search by when I get home.

It sounds like the 360 support on the Series X will be the same limited support that the One currently has. I'm glad there are some games that are supported, but I really want all 360 discs to play just like they do in a 360 and not be at the whim of what MS feels like and/or licensing restrictions that may exist.

Even though I'm glad there are some 360 games supported, I think it is rather shitty that games that got "Next Gen" ports were left behind. For ...

Well, no. I have a One and am interested in getting a PS5 because I know I will be able to play all the PS4 (and hopefully PS3) exclusives that I missed out on.

I mean, ofc I will play it since it will be on Game Pass -- but I'm so bored and tired of first and third person shooters and especially Halo.

I would like to see quests lines with more than one outcome and there needs to be more variety than Skyrim. It gets kinda annoying that every quest line in Skyrim ends with you becoming the leader of whatever faction.

I'd honestly like to see a completely new 2d Metroid experience like a sequel to Fusion. Super Metroid is still super awesome and a remake might just lead to dumming things down. If they do remake Super Metroid, I hope they just improve the graphics, make it wide screen, and leave the underlying mechanics alone.

@RaidenBlack - Yeah, I'd like to see that too, but I fear if there is another one they will go with another generic Strogg space aliens story.

I only ever see sales of Nintendo 1st party games at $40 if they are on sale AND have DLC available such as Breath of the Wild and Splatoon 2. I picked up Donkey Kong Tropical Freeze for $40 at Best Buy about a year ago -- that is probably the only exception I can think of to that "rule".

I tend to agree. It is really the only theme worth re-visiting as it may be the only "unique" thing left in the Quake series. Two was good for its time because Quake was just about showing off the technology. Any themed setting was just a vehicle to show off the technology, hence why the series has always felt so aimless in terms of a story.

I frankly don't see a point in revising Quake as it was what it was for its time, and today would likely just be anothe...

Why? As a huge Quake fan back in the day, what can Quake bring to the massively crowded FPS space? Quake has never has much consistency in theme. What made Quake great back in the 90s was it represented the "bleeding edge" of FPS in terms of graphics and gameplay back when the market was new and small.

Doom had a unique theme and setting that has been consistent and to me it made more sense to bring that back. People knew what to expect. With a new Quake -- What i...

I've played through all the Quake games, and I had an affinity for them back in the day. The problem with the whole Quake franchise, in my view, is that it has never had any centralized theme. Quake 2 and 4 are connected story-line wise, but the other Quakes are very different single player experiences or multiplayer-only experiences.

Doom, Wolfenstein, and Rage all have their own unique settings, and when a new one is announced players know what to expect. If id softwa...
