I'm having a hard time not being an enabler here as I this is what I was planning to be playing come September.
"Sony has released PS5 update 22.01-05.50.00.08, which adds new features like low latency mode."
No. That isn't even what the article states. The low latency mode was introduced in an earlier update but people complained that it was mandatory (e.g., if the PS5 detected a low latency mode on your HDTV it would turn it on regardless of the user preference). This was especially annoying for LCD TV users while in HDR mode because local dimming would not work in low latency ...
They followed the HDMI 2.1 specifications which limits to frame rates at 48 and above fps. If a game implements low-frame-rate compensation then it can effectively get VRR at <48fps under the HDMI 2.1 specification (e.g., to get ~40 fps run at 80hz VRR and output two frames per actual frame to put it simply). My understanding is that the XBox uses a modified version of AMD ActiveSync in their VRR implementation so that is why they are able to get to lower frame rates while keeping VRR but ...
The Day One on these titles really does make the difference for me on why I subscribe to Game Pass but not to PS Plus (yes I have both consoles). By the time PS Plus gets the game I'm interested in, I've already purchased it. All of the PS Plus games that I'm at all interested in, I already own. That's a problem.
When they start talking Day 1 releases, I might get interested in this service. I've already purchased all the games on Plus that I'm remotely interested.
I want another 2d Castlevania game! Come on Konami! Do something and not some 3d crap.
I wouldn't be surprised if they provide an option later if you "own" the PS Plus version of the game. Square eventually threw us a bone with FF7 Remake and the PS5 version a few months after it was released. The GamePass version of RE7 got the SeriesX update, so I would expect the same for the PS Plus version.
Meh, a bunch of homophobic reject left-overs from gamer gate that nobody cares about. They get shit on whenever they show their head, and rightfully so.
"Due to all the SJW crap"
Sorry reality is so difficult for you to navigate. The rest of us are just fine with representation in video games because we are not loser homophobes.
The only one spinning anything here is you. LMAO.
Fantastic game. One of my favorites. Very well deserved.
Any game with lootbox mechanics should be rated M and only sold to 18+. Not interested in even trying this one.
I've been having a blast playing PS1 and PS2 games on my Microsoft Series X and Valve Steam Deck.
There are a few titles that I'm playing but the real appeal for me is when I don't know what i want to play and have a lot of options. Most of the titles are <$20 normally or when on sale -- arguably would be better to buy the games outright so long as you are not buying brand new.
I feel like MS tried to at the launch of XBox One when they flirted with locking discs to particular consoles. I love physical copies of games and hope that it never dies, but I think that, realistically, it will eventually.
Same, but with one exception: when a large part of the packaged content is in the form of a code to unlock a digital store DLC or additional game. For example: Bayonetta 1+2 for Switch physically came with the Bayonetta 2 game cart and a download code for Bayonetta 1. In those situations, I'll just buy the game off the eshop.
Yup. That was the deciding factor for me to get it on PS5 over PC or Series X was I was confident they would have a similar "HD" rumble and trigger experience as Demon's Souls. I hope it is something that they still implement but I'm not holding my breath.
If it rattles the cages of the left over gamer gate rejects, I'm all for it.
"Series S entered the new gen underpowered. It is good enough for the price I guess."
If you don't need a disc drive and 500GB of space is OK, I guess it is good enough for the price. That 500GB proprietary drive that is required for Series games is $90 - $120 - once you are considering that as a need you should be looking at just getting a Series X IMO.
MS's goal with the Series S is clear: cheapest hardware to support the minimal featu...
What I'm saying is consistent with the patch notes and with what DF have said about the issue. If something I'm saying is inaccurate, spell-it-out.
