I agree, it wasn't so much the violence or the gore and how unpleasantly shocking it was, it's just that mowing down wave after wave of enemies did feel a bit too Call of duty for my tastes and not quite a match for the brilliant setting and story.
Still though I will say. I thought the combat in the first Bioshock was awful, it played like it didnt know if it wanted to be survival horror or action but I still loved that game despite it's annoying gameplay simply due...
Should be banned for purposefully misleading flamebait title.
I just bought Dragon age origins recently and was absolutely loving it until I reached the section in the Mage's tower where you're sent into the fade alone. It seems like I've been playing that part forever and it's just torture. I'm pretty sure the game will become great for me again once I make it through this part but I can't bring myself to slog through it, even with a guide.
I'm playing FF7 on the Vita at the moment too. I'm liking it a lot but it isn't even close the greatness of FF6 for me. Partly I think because the old school sprites have aged better than the polygon models (though both look very good on the Vita) but mostly I just prefer the characters and story of 6. I have made myself promise to complete each game in the series before moving onto the next because the stories are pretty damn hard to follow as it is without mixing them all up, bu...
Ellie is about thirteen isn't she? If that's a woman there are a few angry mobs that owe me an apology.
Ps. Yeah, I know that wasn't really the point of the article but I had the bad joke in my head and had to get it out. Pretty good article overall. I never particularly opposed women in gaming since I'm not some kind of savage but I must admit until recently I kinda didn't take the issue as seriously as maybe I should have. I still think many critics complai...
Thanks for the compliment. I already headed a little into rant country with that last comment so I will try and keep my answer as succinct as possible but it's pretty much impossible to explain how I would define a 'good' game without going off on a crazy rant. You have been warned.
First of all I think 'good' and 'bad' are a little too simplistic to properly rate games but then I'm not one of those people who thinks its all completely relative an...
There are three kinds of defense you see regularly when it comes to poor games (or at least, three that come to my mind).
The first is when people want a game to be great so much that they don't even want to entertain the thought that it might not live up to the hype. An example from my own life would be the time I was watching a livestream of Duke Nukem forever before it's release and the chat box was flooded with talk about how it looks amazing, I casually mentioned th...
I hope this becomes standard practice. To release the pretty safe big budget game and then release the crazy creative risky ideas as a DLC campaign. That's no insult to Far cry 3 which I really liked but this seems like a good way for devs to create experiences that are truly off the wall and risky but have nice big budget graphics and gameplay without having to worry about losing all their money.
Good news. Thanks for the info.
Strange how sometimes you CAN judge a book by it's cover.
Good. Cross-gen titles just upset me because I don't have the patience to wait for the next gen version and so I play with the knowledge that there's a better version somewhere out there, which is unacceptable to somebody of my importance.
Still, I'm surprised how many games are being packed into the final few months of the PS3 (or at least it's final few months as the dominant console). I have to imagine these studios are also working on next gen titles alongsid...
For anyone who knows anything about this kind of thing, am I right in thinking this high RAM would mean you could make an open world GTA style game with graphics about as good as Max Payne 3 but with at least a few areas with ridiculously crowded streets? Like, Time square for real crowds rather than the smattering of people we had in GTA4's play on Time square? If so that's good, those are the kinds of improvements I'm most looking forward to. Textures etc are good enough for me ...
Holy crap. This looks awesome. This is so far up my alley I can't even tell you.
I usually hate people losing their jobs for their tweets and Facebook statuses but this guy really should have understood that making strong hints about the most secretive project your company are working on, strong hints that make the thing look bad and will clearly turn public opinion against the project before its even revealed, that is a very very silly move.
I like the style of this game but I really don't like the fixed camera angle approach the remote play gameplay hinted at. That was cool for Crash Bandicoot at the time but these days that kind of game really looks a little archaic. I hope the game eventually opens up to a more Jak and Daxter type open gameplay, not open world per se but at least the freedom to angle your own camera.
"Heading up the vision for Arkham Origins is creative director Eric Holmes, known for being the lead designer of open world action hits The Incredible Hulk: Ultimate Destruction and Prototype. A self-professed lover of comics, Holmes even wrote the miniseries Transformers: Megatron Origin for IDW."
That's good news anyway. I'm pretty sure this Holmes guy is a big fan of Batman. I vaguely recall reading something like that in the news a while back anyway.
Sadly I have to agree. I mean I'll probably still have to buy it since I'm a big batfan and loved the first two games but I'm so disappointed it's a prequel. A prequel used to be for telling the full story of a legendary event alluded to in the former release or to add some unforeseen context to the characters we already know, changing the whole point of their story. Now a prequel basically means, 'yeah, uh... We took this story and characters about as far as we really can...
As an avid gamer I have very few actual friends and still I know two people who do not have a reliable home connection. One guy is a big time gamer lives in an area that still doesn't allow him a great Internet connection and the other is a fairly casual gamer who just doesn't have a home Internet connection. I do find the latter pretty weird myself and still don't understand why he doesn't think it's worth the money but I don't think it's weird enough to deny him ...
Hmmm, a game once chosen as IGN's game of the year, available to download for no extra cost. I dunno man, that's a tough one.
I don't think it's too much at all, in fact I think every special edition of a game with so much as a cameo by a female character should come with a statue of Batman choking that character. From Lara Croft to Ms. Pacman. I'd buy them all.
