This game is slowly creeping onto my radar but I'm still not sure. I love a good desolate post apocalyptic grimfest and the scenes of skulking around in the dark tunnels with just a flashlight to guide you look great. I also like the little things like having to wipe the goop and rain off of your gas mask visor, it all looks very atmospheric. The main thing holding me back are the scenes of machine gunning monsters and stabbing guards. I can handle a little generic shootering if it's ...

I know nothing about specs or anything but I've loved just about everything Valve have put out so far. This could be their first huge misstep but I don't know. All I will say is, if they make Half-life 3 a steambox exclusive (or steambox and PC exclusive if that's how it works) I will consider that a scummier move than any gaming company has ever made before. With the cliffhanger ending and the ridiculous wait they owe as many people as possible the chance to finish the story. If ...

Hurray, somebody noticed. Congratulations on having good taste.

Just be careful. I thought I bought a copy of this the other day but when I got it home it turned out to be a CD of U2 covers with all the lyrics changed to 'braaaains'.

You haven't told a decent story yet, David. I honestly respect the efforts to make us question our definition of what a game is and find new ways to interact with a story but having played both Heavy rain and Fahrenheit, they do NOT have good stories. They have the plot and characterisation of a low budget made for TV drama from the 80's. they're as desperate to look grown up but as truly shallow and trite as a thirteen year old boy growing a bumfluff moustache and wearing his dad...

I vote for a Harvey Pekar based side scrolling beat em up, Streets of rage style.

The one thing that worries me about this game is that it appears to have a fixed Crash Bandicoot style camera in the gameplay we've seen. I hope that was just for that one indoor area with a small Knack and that the thing opens up to a more Jak and Daxter style controllable camera later on. If it does this could honestly be the PS4 game I'm most looking forward to.

Dammit, I read that as 'Among the sheep' and was hoping for a sequel to Catherine.

Thanks for the help, folks. I might give it another shot tonight after a few hearty swigs of whiskey for courage.

With so many different versions of this thing coming out it would be nice if they let us know what videos we've seen will be representative of what system. The original E3 gameplay was the most impressive footage to me personally but I have no idea if I'm hyping myself too much expecting it to look like that on the PS4.

I had to admit defeat and tap out of Dark souls at that big crystal cave with the invisible bridges. I tried a few times to clear that thing and failed horribly, at this time I'm afraid to even look at the case sitting on my shelf. Great game but I won't be diving back in until there's a patch to let me fly and give me quickly regenerating health.

Some fun ideas like the dubstep gun and I like the idea that this crazy character is the President but the map still appears to be mostly dull grey lifeless suburbs which made Saints row 3 a depressing experience for me. There is a street or two with interesting things on it but the rest of the environment is so grim, lifeless and unimaginative. If you're gonna go this far with your characters and gameplay at least add a little neo-Tokyo vibe to the environment or something.

I don't like the look of this new character at all and I grew to like Cole a lot over the course of both games but (spoilers) I'm glad he's dead (if he really is). I'm glad he's dead because I liked him and because I don't want him to be dead. It gives his story some kind of closure and makes it more interesting. Things didnt turn out exactly as I'd hoped they would for this character, that's good. its interesting.

It's better to know the ...

I kinda felt like their song on the ad was part of the attempt to advertise to the frat boy demographic Ken Levine was talking about. Not that I'm saying their song is the type of thing only frat boys listen to or anything, just that it didn't fit the tone of the game and came off as kind of a cynical attempt to grab the young hip crowd who need loud rock music on everything rather than a true representation of the tone of the game.

I think the point being made is that Deadpool is clearly made by people who understand how dumb and adolescent the action hero thing is and are purposefully having fun pushing that ridiculousness to absurd places to create a knowingly immature but still creatively written work of tongue-in-cheek schlock.

I haven't played any Army of two games so I admit I could easily be mistaken about this but they don't look like a knowing satire of dumb action conventions. They look l...

I didn't pick this game up for a while because I fell for the fan backlash. To be honest I was kinda part of the fan backlash when I discovered the game was gonna be set in a warm climate and Max was gonna be bald and beardy and while I still admit this really isn't a Max Payne game in the same way the first two were I think it was a fantastic game in its own right. Stylistically I consider it a sort of film adaptation of the comic book character was that Max Payne in 1 and 2.

I don't think you can really say this was the first FPS ever made. Even if Wolfenstein was the first FPS ever, this is not that game, this is a game that shares the same name and some thematic similarities.

I said it was an alright game, or at least implied it. I said it contained some interesting ideas. I only made reference to his game to compare to his ridiculous ego and the things you would think he had accomplished. The subject being discussed here is whether or not the guy deserves the hate he gets online in response to his personal opinions. If you don't think that's an interesting discussion you don't have to take part.

I'm sure people can just play Fez and ...

Can't say this article changed my mind. The guy is a prick and people are not trying to deny him his right to his opinion by calling him a prick when he gives a pricky opinion.
He's an also-ran in the already overcrowded world of purposefully retro hipster games. Fez contains some interesting ideas as do many games in that genre but it isn't even close to being the breakthrough for the industry he seems to think it is. He acts like he's Gabe Newell.
