The vision of the original creator is mute when the rights of the character belong to a corporation that is designed to make money. Weather the original Lara was designed by a couple of horn dogs or by committee is quite mute at this point. IF this was an independent game series then sure, I would get that. But it isn't. It belongs to a corporation and they only wants what sells.

I would say Prey and Dishonored both are their best work. Dishonored for the player movement and Prey for the world gameplay antics and freedom. Both for their amazing level design and player freedom and top shelf art direction. I would put them as equally deserving to continue.
On a side note. Please, if your going to continue PREY (you god damn well should), can you guys change the name to NEURO SHOCK? The Prey name did it no service whatsoever. Not only does it not reall...

Which is mind-boggling to me. Dishonored and Prey are best in class type games. Where you can most often than not, play them any way you want. Stealth, Magic, Doom style pew-pew, or a mixture of them. Plus this type of gameplay lend itself perfectly to the sort of organic set pieces that create those "holly shit!" moments. Not to mention, as you said, the handcrafted environments and environment storytelling is usually second to none.

That would suck since they are one of the few developers doing the type of games like Dishonored and Prey. I think that doing the Dishonored/Prey main game and then creating a DLC like Prey: Mooncrash sounds like a more sensible solution instead.

Games should never be long for the sake of longevity. If anything, games should be shorter and focused more on replayability and permutation per the players choices. So if you start the game again maybe some things could change and if you make different choices then the scenarios change.
If you take the game Blade Runner you will know that they randomize who is a Replicant. This is a perfect example of a small permutation that will change how the player approaches the game...
