@GWAVE and the others b!tching about the review

Have you even played the game yet?

Carmack did stress that he felt the 360 had the better hardware, but that space limitations were a problem for the game. He says that Sony poor design choices with their architecture:

Pretty cool interface design. The fanboys are reporting this story because they're offended by the remark about the PS3 selling the least, but if they were to actually read the article they might be surprised at the insights it reveals.

Wait, people actually play Home?

I don't think the people who squashed the story I posted would allow that to be submitted

It's also worth noting that Resident Evil 5, like many games, looks better on the 360 because the PS3 can't render the self-shadowing.

Your silence speaks volumes.

Please explain what "total graphical output" entails. That's incredibly vague.

@Persistantthug

I didn't said it couldn't render, I said it's IMPRACTICAL to render it on the cell, which is why shipping games currently don't support it. The God of War article just backs up what I said earlier: SPUs accelerate asset processing for the heavier tasks, but they don't render them. This isn't a discussion of tech demos, it's a discussion of what works in actual games.

Yes, the PS3 does have a better processor, but on the graphics side of things the Xbox is slightly ahead with it's unified shader system. Also, because of the way the PS3 handles it's main memory, it has less RAM available to the GPU than the 360, which is why textures often look blurrier on PS3 multiplatform games.

@Persistantthug

The cell doesn't render graphics on the PS3, but it can preprocess 3D assets like voxels and some lighting routines to feed to the graphi...

Chances are that the 360 version will have the better graphics as it has better video hardware, but will be more unwieldy because of the disc swapping. Not a big deal, it's hard to say if that's worse than having the game periodically install onto the PS3's hard drive.

GWAVE, one of these days N4G is going to wise up and banish you to the Open Zone with all the other fanboys.

I heard it's Wii Motion+ toliet training game, with the industry's most realistic wipe!

I'd love a MGS4 that I didn't have to install onto the hard drive every chapter.

Sounds like the 360 got the best components of the Cell processor.

This is why I laugh every time someone lists the PS3's browser as a "feature" over the 360. Like anyone really cares about web browsing on their consoles. Web trends show that even Netscape was used more often last year than the PS3 browser.
