dont worry about the cpu too much, its still stronger than the competiton! imagine, if it were much more powerful than the xbone, im sure the specter of "parity" would be a HUGE issue, instead of just a big one. no matter how powerful the ps4 is, the REAL anchor tied around its neck is probably gonna be the xbone. yes, the dark energy ending would have been MUCH better... i actually read about it during my ME2 playthrough, and kept thinking "wow, that ending makes sense!" getting to the ME3 actual ending was a bit of a "meh" moment, after reading the much better ending first... who cares if you heard the end, its much better than writing an on-the-fly shitty one just to screw over the whistle-blowers.
