EXACTLY! my wife wants a ps4 (shes really into ffxiv, and it runs SOO bad on the ps3 compared to my ps4 LOL), and i'll probably get TLoU bundle so i can have that, and she can keep the system!
Ninty needs to realise, they're always going to be the "and i also got a..." system until they can offer all the best 3rd party stuff. gamers still say "god, i want the new mario kart, and ssb, but also battlefield, cod, rainbow 6, watchdogs and destiny."
thats something M$ and Sony still have on nintendo, they offer a stellar 1st party experience (perhaps right behind nintendos), but also all the other devs quality work.

last i checked, they had WELL under a %50 attach ratio for the original kinect, which is NOT what they were shooting for at all. Also, they never capitialized on it with an arsenal of compelling "kinect-only" titles... did they really think people would pay for it again when, after they paid for it the first time, nothing cool ever came out for it? fool me once, and all that.

I like him, but really, this is the stuff that GAMERS have been saying since M$ started the huge kinect 1 push... this was their baby, they tried it as an add-on and it didn't attach the way they expected, they tried it as a mandatory add-on, and it sunk the XBone like another brick tied to it... We (gamers) have never been excited for it, and never really expressed any interest in it. did M$ forget who initially bought 360s? HARDCORE GAMERS! but sure, lets see if we can get them to buy ...
its sad, but thats probably most of what there is to it...
this is for people who don't have the money to spring for all that. If you couldn't afford ALL 3 next-gen systems, (like a HUGE majority of the population), this would be an EXCELLENT choice. props on keeping the poor people covered!!!

I personally dont see how kinect was ever "alive" either. it was arrogant to think they could force people to buy it just because they wanted an xb1... apparently most people didnt want an M$ branded machine so bad they choked on $100 and bought kinect.

innovation IS important, its just M$ was pushing innovation that nobody apparently wanted. The Dreamcast had online capabilities YEARS before any other console. thats the problem with innovation, nobody was ready for it, and they didn't have something to show us how cool it was, no Killer-app. Motion controls and always online may be the way of the future, but its their job to make it appealing enough to the masses for it to sell. i was just assuming they would both (M$ and SONY) be doing the listed things... if the two systems (and their history) were completely flipped, and M$ and done everything sony had, and vice versa, then yes, i'd have gotten an xb1 on launch... i went through 3 months of being undecided. it was a big decision for me, cause nobody else i knew was buying a launch console this time, and whatever i bought all my friends would likely buy.

Hell, people are still bitching about the DS4's lightbar, something which costs them no money. I can imagine how much sony fans would scream if the PS camera had been mandatory. they wont shut up about a mandatory little LED they can cover up with a cool emblem sticker.

even the wii, with all its motion control BS, proves that motion control is YEARS away from replacing a controller. if you look at all the "must have" games for the wii, you'll see a lack of motion controls, and thats on a system DOMINATED by the idea of motion control.

sigh... i'd love to buy a wiiu, but it will be my SECONDARY console, ps4 securely in first. If i get one, it'll only be for the first party stuff, I probably wont get 1 game for it by anybody else. and if thats the case, I doubt i can justify the purchase to only play around 10 games.

its not the sub that will kill this game, its the REVIEW SCORES! people will pay a subscription if the game is excellent, if its crap, they wont.
FFXIV is alive and well, sub included. Heck, when they beta tested it I heard they had about twice as many people wanting to play than they had servers for. Im paying a sub right now for FFXIV, and its worth it. I think i'd feel ripped off paying a sub for ESO though.
