seriously about the cloud, i can't get in a COD match without a 25ms ping, how is it going to offload calculations to make a game run harder better faster stronger? Theres no way it could do LIVE calculations for the game, maybe background stuff, or updates and patches...
It wouldn't be loading game assets for you, thats for sure.
perhaps they're just going to wait until they fall real far behind again, and then....
OMG WE LISTENED! KINECT ISN'T MANDATORY!!!
...seriously, since when is a spy cam required to run a game system or a cable box?
^THIS
They can go back on this whenever they want! I'm sorry, I still don't trust them... Most things they try to enact are bad for consumers, and sets a precedence...
They got their way on Live gold fees, now sonys doing it too... if all this crap had went through unopposed, in 8 years we'd have a PS5 doing it too... so glad they got slapped by the mighty hand of "lack of pre-orders"!
Im sorry, for 3 generations sony has produced more dependable hardware, and had waaaay more exclusives... they have a much better track record, plus it seems M$ is rushing the xbone like they did the 360, and we know how that turned out... Plus, who knows once they hit the 20m mark with the xbone they wont revive DRM?
...but they had to be FORCED to do this, as others said. Anybody who thinks just because they started digitally distributing the games, m$ would all of a sudden cut their prices, think again... when was the last time you saw a big m$ office sale on their website, or a Windows 7 sale? and im not talking 5% off, im talking about an amount like a Steam sale, where you pay 10% of retail, or less... Digital downloaded games would cost the same, they would just have higher profit margins due to ...
NOPE!
Sony didn't try to screw me over when they thought they could get away with it... They took the road that was better for us customers, which, might i remind everyone, COULD have blown up in their faces if all the Sheeple followed M$ to get the new Halo game... PS4 all the way!
DRM was a cash-grab the entire time...
I really hope people can see that now, particularly the few apoligists who have been defending that stuff all week...
So previous Xbone defenders, was it better before, or now that they're doing the same thing as Sony? (treating customers like humans...)
BTW still not buying one, always thought M$ was untrustworthy, now I (we) know...
umm you realise you and ten friends can just share disks, right? you can share disks with 100 people if you want... like we always could. you can still "play multiple peoples libraries of games for free as much as you wanted", DRM was always just a cash grab dude!
I'm borrowing a game right now as we speak, and 1 of my games is at a friends house... Us 3 people are sharing games right now on a current gen system... OMG the MAGIC!
sorry, i still can't support a company that tried really really hard to screw me over... If we all hadn't stood up for ourselves, they would have fed that crap to us, they only changed because of the complete $%#$-storm that was heading their way... Its like a shoplifter offering to pay for an item after getting caught... sure, they want to do it the right way NOW...
Go PS4!
no creepy camera watching me to see if my heartrate goes up watching baywatch...
I wonder how this articles author feels now that M$ flip flopped on the whole DRM thing...
still not buying an xbone... PS4 baby!
USA: xbox
ALMOST everywhere else: PS3
funny how us americans forget theres a "rest of the world", huh?... because developers don't.
We'll see... Still, are they trustworthy? Prob not lol... I'm not going to buy one...
Thank you every one who said NO to m$ on this... Consoles are nothing without consumers. I'm still buying a PS4, but I'm happy our industry isn't heading toward the pooper now!
Im glad they switched this... But I'm still not ready to trust them yet lol
what is: extremely high profit margins on Live gold account fees, lower profit margins on hardware and software sales, alex?
Although people ARE worried about PS eye, and Ipad cameras, and cell phone cameras, those, like you said, are a few steps down... When my other cameras can tell if ads are targeting me correctly by wether or not my heart rate increases, then I'll be worried about them... Its those few steps that are worrisome, its going from crappy front facing Iphone camera, to facial recoginition, biometric data mining, ad targeting based on users in room, etc...
Didn't they say originally they never heard or were a part of PRISM? I'd trust them about as far as I could throw an XBoX 360 power brick...
M$ is actually hoping people will swallow whatever they throw at them to play a new Halo... People won't switch, and will accept DRM and online requirements, and accept Kinect being forced on them simply cause of a new Halo and Gears every so often... I hope people aren't really that dumb to give up their rights for a yearly sequel...
