BC is about supporting previous generation games you've previously purchased. It doesn't matter if it's achieved through software or hardware. As long as the medium you originally purchased the game is supported.

95% of my game purchases have been PC this Gen. The consoles don't have the wow factor they did last Gen.

The fact is higher cores won't give higher fps. This is where high clock speed with GPU power is king. That's factually true.
