Most space takes their recorded motion capture animations not city or story.JC2 is biggest game on consoles and it fit DVD9 perfectly well...Not that more space wouldn't be better but...

You do realize what you just said makes no sense?So porting from weaker system to more powerful one you are in deep ****,but porting from more powerful to weaker is great since the weaker one will look the same.Is it me or N4G is becoming synonymy for illogic?

Until this gen more powerful system was always getting better ports,even when it was much more complicated(see dreamcast>PS2) but sudenly in this gen things have changed and in some,completely illogical situation...

Generally,in these times,PS3 is lead platform or with big titles(R*,Activision and Ubi),they are developed simultaneously.

Problem with porting on PS3 is that you have to rework shaders from 360 and you always end up with ~30 megs less so you have to cut down some things.

If that happens than LOL @ MS...First,whole bunch of Kinect titles shown couple months earlier,than rumor about Kingodms being Kinect game,now AW.All those promises of new hardcore games for 360 and gamers get this crap...

Problem with their motion blur skinning(for parts of the body) is that it adds vertex cycles on gpu which RSX "does not like".You could do it on SPUs though,I think GOW III uses it.KZ2 also but not KZ3 and UC2.

Basically,both HD consoles can do anything that other can do.Look at gears 3,you have camera motion blur,object motion blur and even motion blur on the parts of the body.Overhauled lighting,baked global illumination and awesome shadowing.Epic trows alot of alphas as DF said,alot of smoke,particles and fire which is very performance demanding.There are also dynamic God Rays and great texture work,all in multiplayer beta.I expect SP to look better...

So...Gears 3 has pretty ...

Yea...AA in UE3 games does not work all that well.It is limited in cleaning of the edges as AA pass is done earlier than geometry pass,thats minus of UE3 engine.Its also more expensive MSAA than in other engines while it does not give desirable results,thats the reason why you won't see MSAA in any UE3 game on PS3 and thats why 2xMSAA in Gears 2 looks like there isn't any MSAA.

But they still have 5 months in development,maybe they can get some kind of post process ...

No,Its because on consoles you have to do your own,manual gamma correction.If you don't than PS3 ends up washed out and 360 version dark,thats because gamma curve on 360 is linear and on ps3 its not.

When your artists set up the right one both can look pretty much identical in gamma levels(see Crysis 2 or BC2).

There is more talk about it in Cryteks and Valves tech papers,as well as NDs.

They should get their games up to 60fps and design them to be less linear and restricting so it would be fair to compare.

Although I don't think it will be best looking game on consoles it will look great and will run at twice the speed of competition.

That teraflop thing is completely out of sanity.Thats according to some Nvidia crazy calculations for RSX having alon 1.8TFLOPS.I mean,cards like 4870HD have 2TFLOPS and they smoke both consoles put together and multiplied by five.

The real flops number are this.Cell-215GFLOPS(not TFLOPS),RSX 200GFLOPS(with clocked speed at 550mhz).

Xenon 115GFLOPS,Xenos 240GFLOPS.
