All I know is that MW2 on 360 looked great,it ran at 60fps and while it was sub hd it had 2xMSAA in comparison to another beloved shooter that looked worse,ran at twice less frames per second and had no AA.
I expect nothing but great things from MW3(graphically speaking),especially taking in account it runs at twice the frames than other shooters.
Of course they learned...They should have dumped Cell and blu ray,really.With dumping blu ray they could easily went for 1GB of ram(as all the consoles would have HDD disk space wouldn't be such a problem) and dumping money into cell was wrong idea IMO since with that kind of money they could probably get specially designed,considerably better GPU than 360 had and not only would games look better than 360 counterpart,3rd party would turn on PS3 much and they wouldn't miss 2005 launch ...
What?PS3s imlantation(and 360 also) is probably one of the worst in this gen.Its OVERLY dark,its anything but subtle realistic effect.The dark edges that look like someone took a black tint and painted it certainly is not how SSAO should look like.Its not how it should look like in 360 version either but Richard is right on the point its just bad in both of them
Thats why MS programmers from Lionhead helped Jorge Jimenez to port MLAA on 360,meaning no overhead on memory for eDRAM,same like 720p frame that fits in eDRAM without need to tile.You will just have two 720p frames,one in eDRAM one in main memory.In comparison with PS3 that will give you ~8 megs of memory more since in PS3 both frames will be stored in main memory taking more from it.

What was shown are weapon pictures and I think heli shot.The problem was those weapon pictures were taken from their engine,actually from asset creation phase where all the things around weapons were just plain 2d buildings with low textures,no normal or bump mapping and where scene is totally UNLIT.The problem for people who said "Yea,weapons look great but everything else is crap" is that only thing that will look like that in game will be weapons,and they will be lit(so shaders r...

No,not really.I mean,there were ~100 people working at IW and 30 left.If anything,next MW can't look worse/same as MW2 since updated engine is already there and all those 35 people worked on it till late 2010.Huge part of the game was finished when they left.Not that thats not going to hurt,it will,but not nearly in the same way next COD will hurt them without those people being on project from beginning.
Infinity Ward,despite all the shit they have to swallow from people,are really,REALLY full of great programmers.MW2 looked great,thats a fact.Their lighting and depth of field implantation are fantastic,especially for 60fps game,something that other shooters aren't doing.Character models and faces are also great since they have PROBABLY the best character artist and designer in bizz(Steven Giesler).

Why?It was probably always thought to be destroyed NY,thats what MW was always about,finishing with chaoss.I mean,Washington was destroyed in MW2 and major work(environments and story) are the first thing developers do when developing a new game.So I'm sure they started to work on New York before April 2010 when Crysis 2 was announced to be in NY.

While I agree with article(let the actions speak),it shouldn't be so hard to top MW3 on consoles,since DICE is using new engine and it runs at twice lower frame rate.I'm however sure that MW3 will look great too,gun models(especially shaders) already look great and updated engine from MW2 can only get better,and that wasn't ugly game.
It will definitely look better.Just their implantation of Enlighten engine(3rd party lighting engine used in Mirrors Edge) and global illumination should change things for much better.Plus better post processing effects,deferred shading introduced and texture streaming tech(they didn't have it until Frostbite 2) so I'm sure it will look considerably better.I'm not sure if its going to top the best but I'm sure it will look great.
I don't care what anyone says I think this sounds fantastic.If IW can get to their Cod 4 thing,or even eclipse it then this is going to be one hell of a game.
Yea and UE3 is six year old engine and compare UE3 from 2005 to UE3 now.Even better,compare early UE3 with Samarithan demo done on much updated UE3 and you will see that only name stays the same....
Anyway,when you completely rework your lighting and post processing pipeline,when you add much more complex shader techniques and texture streaming its hardly the same old Quake 3 engine.
