...Or because MS didn't necessarily increase their profits (check the update to the summary).
I would have been highly impressed if MS had managed to actually increase profits 16% in this recession. Still, an increase in revenue is still notable.
I bought a PS3 from wal-mart, bought the extended warranty, my PS3 stopped reading discs. I called them up, they said they would fix it and send the exact same console back to me (no refurb).
Ya, it's stupid to buy those extended warranties...
I hope you're lucky enough to never need one, because I'm already starting to have withdrawals.
Wait wait wait... Rock Band? Surely that's just the disc, right?
Other than that, Soul Calibur 4 is the only other game that interests me. Those are great deals but I was kind of expecting more, like Valkyria Chronicles. Oh well. $10 is pretty much a steal for any current gen game.
I don't think they'll alienate anybody. The PS3 already has the EyeToy, which at the very basics is the same thing. Sony also makes SingStar. Just because Sony want to cater to casual gamers, it doesn't mean they will alienate the hardcore. Sony know what they're doing, they've done it before with the PS2. It had plenty of hardcore and casual games.
A Wii-like remote will only add to the PS3 experience, not detract from it. If you don't want one, don't get one. Play your hardcore...
Cute.
"The word "Killer" in "Killer games" is used to describe how great or well crafted it is according to most people here."
"The word "Killer" in "Killer app", according to the definitions, relate to its usefulness or desireableness."
- Do you honestly see a difference? Aren't "great" things useful and desirable? The word "killer" is used in the same way in both phrases. Now if the "Kil...
First real info I've gotten about this game and I must say that I'm intrigued. It looks like a good game and I'll probably pick it up when it comes out. It depends how they handle the enemies since their going for realistic instead of zombies, demons, etc. They need to make it actually scary or the whole thing will fall on its face. Also with an open world, they need to make sure it doesn't get repetitive.
To the people talking about graphics, please stop. I don't think this game is...
Okay, I'll bite. How many first party 360 titles have sold over 2 million without a bundle?
App = short for application. game = application. So by the transitive property, Killer game = Killer app.
Sorry, but it doesn't seem like your definition of killer app jives with anyone else's. Arguing about it doesn't do any good when the perception of "Killer App" differs from person to person.
@Feline
Oh really? I was under the impression that it's a pretty flat rate for any and all repairs. Not that it matters, an extended warranty is always a good precaution, but I'd be interested to see if they have different rates based on the type of repair.
Yay for extended warranties. Exactly a week ago my PS3 stopped reading discs, everything else works fine, but the disc icon doesn't pop up when you insert a disc. So I hunted down my extended warranty book from Walmart, called them up - no problem. They'll fix it and send my 80Gb PS3 (with software emulation) right back to me.
I feel sorry for those who have to pay the full $160 that Sony is asking.
Personally, I like the name MAG. It's simple and there's no BS. It's kind of like Snakes on a Plane, what you see is what you get.
Adding Shadow War ruins that. Now it just sounds like some generic game no one gives a rip about. Leave it as MAG or come up with something completely different, but please don't mesh the two together.
Hmmm... Car or neato table? Decisions, decisions...
Sadly, I'm actually being serious. Haha
@Omega4:
"I honest didnt know that MLB The Show 09 was made by Sony so i guess that makes them even with MS."
So we can agree it's a tie? Okay, so I think the next logical step would be to look at AA games. So here's a list that I gathered from metacritic of first party AA games from both MS and Sony. I'm not positive which Microsoft studios are first party or not, so forgive me if I made a mistake. If I did make a mistake or miss any game, let me know.
@Ausbo
Isn't InFamous an exclusive sandbox game?
I know it's not a perfect solution, but you could just play an unranked game with bots...
You can play with your friends in a full game and have fun. Does it have to be ranked for you to have fun online?
So will you still be able to access those games if your subscription expires?
I'm hoping yes, but I expect that the answer is probably no.
You guys are GAMERS, of course you feel that way. But that does not mean that most people that play videogames feel that way or that it's stupid to feel that way. I'm sorry you are all up in arms about him stating his opinion, especially when it's a fairly valid one.
Most people don't play single player games more than once. Most people aren't Achievement/Trophy whores. Most people rent.
And so do I. Bite me. Videogames are expensive, an argument can be made that pay...
Nope. Ben Dutka wrote an article two hours ago (as of this post) about a FF7 remake. In that article he said "However, now that I've thought about it more - and now that it seems as if the possibility is non-existent" for a FF7 remake. Unless he's doing a devious job of covering his tracks, I'm guessing that's pretty much confirmation that it's not FF7.

I don't know about the rest of you guys, but Uncharted 2 just became an instant buy for me (and inFamous probably did too). I probably would have just rented it if it was SP only.
That said, Naughty Dog knows what they are doing. They will manage to outdo the single player from the first game and provide multiplayer as well. (<-- my prediction).
Stop being so pessimistic, sheesh. At least give them a chance to prove that it's not a bad decision.
