They didn't deliver on half the promises of what the first Kinect should've been able to do.

I disagree, Skynet is more advanced and futuristic in every way.

This VCRbomination is not Skynet.

He founded Naughty Dog, he doesn't work there anymore.

But yeah I agree, he was trying to push the XBox One too much, and some of his points didn't make any sense, for instance:

"If the console is always online, devs can take advantage of that and don't need to worry about cutting off the people who aren't online."

Yeah, all that does is shifting the cutoff to the console purchase, not the game. It's ridiculous ...

All it takes is a firmware update with the drivers baked into the firmware.

Sony has always been open to other peripherals, even if they are mostly pushing their own, sometimes crappy formats (Vita memory cards). Just look at what kind of gamepads and headsets the PS3 supports, my now 12 year old USB PC gamepad worked on the PS3.

If the company behind the Rift is willing to bring it to PS4, I see no reason Sony wouldn't want that.

The only explanation I've read that makes any sense what so ever, is that Phil Harrison is still working for Sony and has invaded Microsoft to destroy them from within. This is literally the most rational and logical conclusion there is. Which is ridiculous if you think about how far out there it is...

Amazon DE top 5:

1. PS4
2. The Last of Us
3. Animal Crossing 3DS
4. XBox One
5. Dual Shock 4

Never thought a company would screw up that bad that people are more excited about Animal Crossing for a handheld than a new console launch.

Thanks to Microsoft, the biggest megaton news out of this E3 was... nothing has changed on Sonys side. How exactly is it good, that they make every game showing, every hardware showing, every innovation showcase seem secondary to the fact that the PS4 will have the same policies as the PS3? With the exception of now having to pay to play multiplayer, for which they are also to blame?

Not an option since GFWL is arguably even worse than XBox One... technically it is an option, but not one to gain them any favours.

@Blachek

Sony is allowing them to self publish on the PS4 now, which "indie" actually stands for, independent of a publisher.

This is like their wet dreams came true, I've heard so many of them are frustrated with the PC. They have no real method of distribution there, no standardized payment method, no marketing. It's gotten a lot better because of how popular the humble indie bundle has become. But it still remains a gamble whether or not ...

Do you realize how complex the source code of a desktop operating system is? The Linux kernel alone has over 7 million lines of code, and that's just the kernel, no UI, no programs.

It is far, far cheaper to create a new specialized OS for specific hardware, than to go through all the trouble of cherry picking the stuff you need from existing source code.

They use the Windows 8 kernel in the XBox One, for whatever reason, most of the crap in there is unne...

Devkits don't run desktop OSes -.-.

4604d ago 12 agree3 disagreeView comment

A devkit is not a simple PC... it has the same hardware as the real thing, just has more tools that are only necessary for development. Otherwise there is no way to test the actual performance of the game. Running a full desktop OS has a ton of overhead compared to dedicated gaming consoles, no way to accurately determine actual performance on the target hardware.

@EasilyTheBest

I was fully prepared to say eff off to Sony if they implemented the same stuff Microsoft did and go PC only. Thank god they didn't. And if stupidity and shortsightedness prevail in a few years, and Microsoft is successful with the crap they are trying to pull, the next console generation will be time to abandon console gaming, look at what happened to free online play because of Microsoft, now Sony is doing it, too because MS was so successful with it.

The only thing I can think of that I can't do with it as a private customer, is redistribution of copies of the software contained on the disc.

What Microsoft is doing is trying to treat physical media the same as digital media is being treated right now.

So what information is it that you are trying to educate me about? Give me some concrete examples of what I can't do with it.

4604d ago 2 agree0 disagreeView comment

Your comment is irrelevant. I own the rights to use the software in whatever fashion I like. I can play the game, give it to a friend, sell it or use it as a freaking frisbee because it's on a physical disc. That would all go away of course if Microsoft had it's way.

And to your point about "all digital". Microsoft was using this as PR smoke to try and downplay BluRay. Years later they still have a discdrive.

People are still buying music CD...

@Frigit

They're in the right, they have the right to inform people on what they are selling, it's not like they're lying.

But you react this way because you just know that informing people about the XBox One does a lot of damage to it's potential success, because that's the truth.

I've seen a few of your comments, and I can already say you are the type of customer Microsoft is hoping for: ignorant, simple minded and ab...
