Are games not grand.

great game. just wrapped up the platinum trophy a couple hours ago. and boy was grinding those last 9 levels tonight an absolute chore; even with brain gear aplenty and the exp boost plug-in equipped. There are a few things I'd have changed but the gameplay itself is great and overall a very solid title. While an RPG my biggest complaint would probably be flow regarding story/side dialogue along with too many checkpoints; never thought I'd say that. Anything else that could be improve...

while nothing exceptional he was that, just fine.

these useless opinion pieces are beyond old. No one cares who or isn't a good protagonist or 95% of the other junk put out there via "opinion pieces." Like a wise man once said, "Opinions are like buttholes, everyone has one." A lot of what is good or isn't is also subjective.

I think that was just PR to try ensuring investors, gamers, whatever, that EA is somehow a good thing for Codemasters. Nothing more than encouraging words painting EA and the process is good light.

side note: While I don't doubt that some extra cash toward projects would've benefited some Codemasters games I don't see that changing just because EA now owns them. If anything they'll be a remnant of themselves w/in 5-10 or so years. All that's guaranteed i...

the problem, imo, comes in how they decide to remake a game. While VII:R did a great job there's still a part of me that wishes it was remade 1:1. Part of which, I imagine, is the lack of turn based RPGs currently releasing and having been released. Flip side, from what I've seen of RE2 & 3 it appears Capcom did a magnificent job on those remakes keeping them pretty true to their original. I do own them so someday I'll see for myself.

However some pixel rem...

shit I still haven't been able to get my hands on the SNES controllers. some of those would be nice but I think below, porkChop sums it up best. Regardless Nintendo has a long ass way to go in terms of infrastructure and features.

Japan Studio was an incredibly unique studio. It housed various teams such as Team Trico. Overall though Japan studios games were [at least mostly] never major sellers; I don't think. Games like Gravity Rush, Puppeteer, Patapon, Knack, etc then the titles from Team Trico such as Ico, Shadow of the Colossus, and Last Guardian.

Anyway I don't think it's so much that the studio didn't do much. It's more along the lines of Sony forgetting their roots, perhap...

from what I've seen on the subject Respawn have said twice they'd be addressing the issue. idk how bad it is but everything I've seen sounds like both Titanfall 1 and 2 are absolutely unplayable online. Yet both are also still being sold. Also if I recall the basic issue, from the sounds of it, lies in the the guts of the online code or system they're using. Meaning that there likely or definitely isn't a fix to the issue.

It is funny though. To onto ot...

when all this intrigue over the Dead Space youtube channel changing it's avatar... my first reaction was this is a remaster at best. Second was, even if it's a new game I don't trust any team at, nor EA in general to deliver on a Dead Space game. Not to say there aren't some great developers or teams at EA. Having recently played it, Jedi Fallen Order was a pretty solid game. though I do have gripes like what a pita it is to have to traverse all the maps for collectibles becau...

true that...

just to put this into context for the people who are to young. Back in the day you had free internet access to games via consoles; yes you still had to pay your ISP. But games often had dedicated servers, etc. Which imo, is the biggest detriment to some games; Destiny.... Sure sometimes it came with issues [latency, lag] but most games ran fine online and didn't require friend codes. That was also around the time the best connection you get was probably 10-...

I do agree but it still sucks. As if Remasters since the PS3 era weren't already bad enough. Sony is setting up an environment that entices players to not buy their games at launch; especially if it's w/in 1-2 years of a next gen launch. Not only with these releases but the $70 entry point to PS5 titles coupled with the fact Sony/MS games are constantly slashed in price 1-3 months after release. The only PS5 game I've even paid $60 for was Scarlet Nexus last week because Meijer &a...

"Same with Greedfall and FFVII R. Just another cost where many gamers expect it in what they already have."

& therein lies the problem. Gamers expect free upon free upon free. All for a game they did not actually purchase. Now I agree or will say that it would be nice to see those upgrades move forward regardless. I do own VII:R on disc & will admit it would've been nice to just upgrade the digital PS+ version. However, this entire attitude of I'll...

yep, F that. I don't need nor do I want ads. we get enough rubbish shoved in our face throughout our daily lives. A major reason I don't watch tv is because I don't want to spend 60 minutes watching a 40 min show. About the only I watch TV is when I shut down a game and jump to Funimation, Netflix, HBO Go or other paid services that are ad free. oh but they'll target stuff you like like how websites use cookies. F that, it's a bit creepy as is. I don't need to be adver...

that's definitely my thinking. It makes the most sense after releasing the Mass Effect Remaster. I see a Dead Space remaster as the most likely case. I just don't see them doing a new game nor would I have faith in any EA team to deliver a Dead Space reboot or 4th entry.

A remaster would be wonderful though because the entire series is great. It also represents the only time in the history of EA where they were trying to make solid games for gamers. Plus I never wen...

@DOM, I mean technically there was talk and rumors that ES6 was in development for, if I recall, about 2 years prior to the announcement; perhaps longer. But why even show a teaser shot? People will always speculate, question, etc, when it comes to a beloved franchise and developer & when a particular IP is being developed. That's just the nature of the internet world we now live in. Two years out and still in pre-production screams to me that work hadn't even begun when the game ...

well when EA reported game sales of like $266 million while posting $644 on live service and other [monetization of games]... It's not that developers don't recoup costs. It's that, if successful, they can obtain a Scrooge McDuck vault size of cash from the monetization side; micros, dlc, season passes. Every single new IP created has a degree of risk associated with it. That's just business 101.

also the insanely expensive to make argument has been around ...

wish I had a CRT for retro gaming [even if it would only get once a year] but you're right. 32" plus of CRT weighs a ton. When I sold my 32" Trinitron it was on condition of pick up from where it was stationed. I wasn't about to move that whale anywhere.

I was surprised to see this revealed when it did. And here we are, what, 2 years later and the game is still in "design phase" GTFO.

you're absolutely correct. Companies should be announcing games 12-24 months out. Games that are already in development and look to be progressing to meet a time window. For several years it was starting to appear that companies were learning and only showing games that were in the foreseeable future. We've seen a shift in ...

@Krog there's a difference between a 3rd party wanting to put work on multiple platforms, a single platform or being paid for an exclusivity deal or even a publishing deal for a specific title compared to simply buying up 3rd party devs. And tbh we simply don't know what games Sony is paying for, do we. Let's not forget MS started that trend with the 360 because they lacked the development houses to create new IPs and games.

You mention Street Fighter V. yeah, ...

Platinum Games from prior to being Platinum to what they've done has been nothing short of a solid track record. Because of this I remain firm that the jury is still out. While the details and trailer were disappointing, for me, I'll wait until we get more information and perhaps even until the game is out to see what the people think. I'd rather a single player experience but if it's a good enough game, that's fun, perhaps I can talk a friend or two into picking it up. As...
