But how many of those bought are actually new customers? With xbox's shocking rate of failure and some people's lack of knowledge on getting repairs, I'd imagine a fair chunk of new 360s bought are from old customers with a broken xbox. Personally I've bought three in total before I found a decent priced repair place which I've also been to three times.

Not true. Sony's actions against him instigated this. Hackers have been trying to jailbreak electronic goods for ages now, to single him out as a single bad guy is pretty ignorant. It could have been any company which decided enough is enough and got targeted.
It's also the second most prominent face in where Sony got bitchslapped then raped for good measure by hackers who stand up and fight against Corporate bullying.

Explain how they're "protecting" game developers by trying to ruin a kid's life.. well two kids tbh. Sales figures show very little difference between xbox and ps3 multiplat games despite xbox being pirated. Ps3 being pirated really wouldn't make a huge difference to Sony or their developers.
And while I agree this could have happened regardless of the geohot case, I think it gave hackers more of a reason to target Sony.
Personally I think it's time for him to go. Now I admit I am slightly biased but I think the only way is down for Activision now. They've lost their other milkable franchises and rely so heavily on call of duty. It's time to focus on making new great franchises and then after they've established them, bring a weasel like Kotick back.
